Abhi
Program Manager–EPMO
India
Fear is human. Pushing past it is leadership.
One morning, Abhi awoke to disaster-level monsoon flooding. He called his team at the Mumbai Call Center, whose 24/7 support of a major global client affects business around the world. After assuring them he'd be there to take charge, Abhi discovered his car was underwater. So he struggled through chest-level water and past flooded bridges, driven by his promise to help his team. Four hours later he arrived—with a dry suit. Oh, and Abhi's client? They never even knew it rained.

Unwavering courage: just one of the qualities that make HP a unique place to work.
Andrew
Storage Architect
Australia
Try to find a problem we can't solve—go on, we dare you.
One of our clients is Australia's biggest telecommunications company. They store a massive 300 terabytes on hardware provided by a third-party mainframe supplier. Andrew and his team turned ideas from what they call their "think tank" into action and found ways to compress that 300 terabytes into 40—and save our client about 15 million dollars.

Shrinking hurdles: just one of the qualities that make HP a unique place to work.
Anjaneyulu
Lab Manager IPG R&D Hubs
India
It's never been done? We'll change that.
Anji and his team are using scanners to harness the cloud. Their breakthroughs will change the future of imaging and printing. Soon you'll place a business card on a scanner to update your web contacts instantly. Or click an icon to clean up your scan and receive a clean document. Or …? Whatever hasn't been done yet, we're probably working on it now.

Raising the bar sky high: just one of the qualities that make HP a unique place to work.
Barath
Analytics Consultant
India
Anyone can THINK outside the box.
It's what you DO that matters.
And Barath does plenty. He connected the Agastya International Foundation with the HP Catalyst Initiative, helping to create a partnership that brings science, technology, engineering and math programs to millions of children in the poorest parts of India. Barath's collaboration helps us push technology outside the box and into the lives of the people who need it most.

Unleashing opportunities: just one of the qualities that make HP a unique place to work.
Bharath
Software Engineer
India
On your mark, get set, DO.
Being a recent graduate didn't stop Bharath from being a leader. His very first assignment was to develop a product from the ground up—research, architecture, design and testing. The result is the HP StorageWorks OpenStorage Plug-In for HP StoreOnce D2D, which will soon be used around the world and allows us to be certified with the market leader in data protection. To Bharath, it's just a warm-up.

Setting the pace of progress: just one of the qualities that make HP a unique place to work.
Chantal
GWE Enterprise Program Office
Germany
Women, start your engines.
Chantal knew her co-workers could conquer anything with a little support. So she organized the HP Women's Network, which promotes the development, retention and visibility of 260 HP women across Munich. The group sponsors diversity summits, mentoring, speakers and social gatherings. They also publish newsletters and articles about women's issues. Most importantly, Chantal helps women steer their own careers.

David
Innovation Lead for Professional Services
England
A slide presentation isn't a dialogue. It's a nap.
David's job is to bring innovation to every aspect of HP—including customer advisory sessions. Thanks to David, those sessions are getting more creative. Instead of centering on a slide projector, they focus on human interaction. Instead of lecturing, David asks questions. Instead of telling customers what they want to hear, he asks what they want to do. And in David's sessions, not a single person dozes off.

Humanizing technology: just one of the qualities that make HP a unique place to work.
David
Notebooks Staff Audio Expert
Texas
Why march to someone else's beat?
David knew notebook audio was capable of studio-quality sound. So he made it happen. He collaborated with a huge team, including platform developers, manufacturers, the marketing department, solution providers, our software team—and even Dr. Dre. The result is Beats Audio, an innovative new digital technology that allows you to hear music the way recording artists intended.

Setting the beat: just one of the qualities that make HP a unique place to work.
Deneen
System Manager
Texas
We've seen the future and it's spill resistant.
Technology needs to be kid-proof: Next year, a large percentage of notebook sales will be in the education segment. So Deneen and her team designed an intuitive, durable product to introduce one-to-one computing to children. Their HP Mini 100e Education Edition includes software and hardware tools to encourage interactivity, connectivity and learning. The team's low-cost innovation will close the digital divide—and open the minds of kids around the world.

Elliott
Education Strategist
New York
Our forecast: innovation with a 100% chance of breakthroughs.
Elliott is known in the industry as a "futurist." Based on his predictions, HP teams are developing the next class of educational technology. Instead of expecting kids to adapt to a rigid set of technology choices, Elliott encourages a range of options. This allows solutions to be customized for individual classrooms and children. His vision is changing school systems across the country, creating unique tablets, notebooks, netbooks, workstations—and a new way of educating through interacting, teaching others and doing.

Gustavo
MCA Technology Services Business Developer
Buenos Aires
Less red tape. More green lights.
Gustavo and his team are changing how government agencies in parts of Latin America operate. Partnering with two other global companies, they built a framework that interconnects agencies to create an efficient, centralized database. The streamlined system means you only have to go to one office for common documents like a driver's license or passport. So when you're skipping those endless lines, thank Gustavo.

Streamlining the world: just one of the qualities that make HP a unique place to work.
James
IT Service Delivery Leader
Hawaii
Protect nation? Check.
The next time you're under pressure, think of James and his team. They're responsible for keeping 18,000 Navy and Marine Corps computers up and running. So they were more than prepared to leap into action for the launch of a new system. From video training to streamlined processes, James made sure mission-critical systems and users were in constant contact with Sailors and Marines in the field and at home.

Defending efficiency: just one of the qualities that make HP a unique place to work.
Jason
Lead Developer, .NET Developer
England
Action is a powerful weapon.
As a graduate developer, Jason volunteered for a complex military project typically reserved for senior developers. With the help of his team and the trust of his mentors, he developed the first double custom datagrid, which allows the military to view and organize vital data. The technique saves over 300% in application response time and made Jason a sought-after expert in his field. It also helps us serve our military—from right here at HP.

Rewarding courage: just one of the qualities that make HP a unique place to work.
Jeanne

We don't just take customer calls, we solve problems. That's why we're always seeking ways to improve our call centers. Jeanne is transforming our infrastructure by developing consistent agent tools, global software and voice over IP technology. She's determined to make sure that calls can be taken by any agent at any global center—and that whoever answers speaks fluent innovation.

Jim
Technical Enablement Manager
California
We don't believe in walls. Just new horizons.
How do you train people around the world on equipment that outweighs a refrigerator? You turn to Jim and his team. They're pioneering a remote lab strategy for global training. The experience lets participants connect, configure and manage elements dynamically on their screen as if the equipment were right in front of them. We're about to share this lifelike training with the world—and turn a new generation of dreamers into doers.

Washington D.C.
It took a big step to shrink a carbon footprint.
When government clients need eco-friendly data centers, they turn to John and HP. Customers trust us—our reputation means John can put his cutting-edge ideas into action. From solar power to wastewater systems that use run-off for landscaping, John is boosting reliability and reducing waste: each center saves as much energy as 650 homes use in a year. With John's drive and our resources, together we're kicking limits to the curb.

There's customer service. And then there's 30 million customers' service.
A leading French telecom operator needed a cloud portfolio that integrated software, hardware and service—and they needed it fast. They also wanted a partner, not just an IT company. So they turned to us and we turned to Laurence. With our portfolio and Laurence's drive, the telecom giant now provides consistent costs and industry-leading technology. And together we make 30 million customers very, very happy.

Redefining an industry: just one of the qualities that make HP a unique place to work.
Muhannad
Software Engineer
Israel
We've yet to meet a challenge we didn't like.
One of the world's largest digital printing companies needed to print 750 signs for 147 stores, packed according to store aisles—that's 63,000 signs. No problem, thanks to Muhannad's team and their SmartStream Designer. The HP SmartStream portfolio allows companies to quickly print massive, high-quality jobs. Muhannad helped his client deliver the right signs for the right aisles to the right stores—70% faster.

Delivering the impossible: just one of the qualities that make HP a unique place to work.
Paul
Master-Level Engineer
Oregon
We don't just talk green—we print green.
When we couldn't find a company that offered affordable recycled plastic for our inkjet cartridges, we made it ourselves. Paul and his team used recycled cartridges, old bottle resin and new thinking in their inkjet innovation. One billion cartridges later, the closed-loop recycling program is helping us live—and print—greener. Thanks to Paul, we've slashed waste, costs and "can'ts."

Pioneering new paths: just one of the qualities that make HP a unique place to work.
Rob
Solution Architect

Sometimes the most important work happens outside the office.
The athletes train all year. Bronze, silver or gold doesn't matter—every medal is a win. Rob captures the moment 400 times a day at the HP Special Olympics photo booth, making sure every athlete has a picture to take home. He's inspired 50 HP employees (including managers and VPs) and their families to pitch in too. The results? One thousand hot dogs, 300 veggie burgers, 200 PB&Js, two cases of carrots, 600 bananas and apples, 800 cups of soup and 2,000 cookies served—plus 400 smiling athletes.

Focusing on what matters: just one of the qualities that make HP a unique place to work.
Shelley
Workforce Planning and Operations Leader
Arkansas
Lose your fear—and find your voice.
When Shelley's manager asked her to mentor a colleague, he thought she'd offer a little advice—not change lives. But Shelley doesn't take responsibility lightly. She launched an ambitious career development program that improves her co-workers' public speaking skills during weekly forums. She also sponsors Breakfast with Business Leaders to expose her team to company leaders. And the colleague who inspired it all? She just won "Most Improved Employee."

Empowering courage: just one of the qualities that make HP a unique place to work.
Tan
R&D Manager, HP Labs
California
The impossible? Consider it done.
Tan provides the infrastructure for nanotechnology research at HP Labs. He and his team are applying their relentless brainpower to the Memristor, a powerful memory chip dreamt up 30 years ago. Soon, that "impossibility" will be reality. In just a few years, the Memristor will make computer memory capacity almost unimaginable. Not bad for a man who fled Vietnam and taught himself English by reading the dictionary.

Laughing at impossible: just one of the qualities that make HP a unique place to work.
Tara
Chief of Staff and Business Strategy/Planning Manager
New York
"Give up." That makes us laugh every time.
When hard economic times hit Tara's town, she wasn't about to let struggling local businesses surrender. Collaborating with an HP print services partner, Tara and her team assessed each company's printing habits and offered a customized solution and a free eco-friendly printer. The results? Tara helped her community save 60% on energy, 41% on carbon, 38% on paper—and 100% of their optimism.
