Introducing HP SmartPlanner 3.0

BARCELONA, Spain, 11 May2010 - HP SmartPlanner 3.0 is a newly enhanced job estimation andbusiness planning tool. Part of the HP Graphic Arts CaptureBusiness success programme, it is designed to take the guessworkout of estimating.

Available to HP Indigocustomers free of charge, HP SmartPlanner 3.0 is ideal for printservice providers (PSPs) wanting to expand their businesses, moveinto new markets, increase their companies' revenue or purchase anew press.

For PSPs specialising incommercial printing, label production, publishing or direct mail,there is a version of HP SmartPlanner 3.0 designed to suit every HPIndigo user's needs.

HP SmartPlanner 3.0 is ableto help define the cost of producing jobs on any HP Indigo digitalpress against any offset press. It can calculate job costs for bothdigital and conventional presses, in terms of time, costs andmargins. HP SmartPlanner 3.0 can be used to accurately determinethe end-to-end cost of a job, including printing, finishing andsupply chain parameters, to establish a breakeven point betweendifferent production processes. This allows users to analyse profitmargins so as to make a better informed decision when choosing howto produce a job.

As well as establishing thecost of simple jobs, HP SmartPlanner 3.0 is able to calculate thecost of complex applications, such as books and direct mail, bysplitting the item into different sections for analysis. Thisallows users to select the most cost-effective form of productionfor each component to maximise revenue from every opportunity.

With new, automatedfeatures, the system enables users to build a profile for a typicalmonth's production, by importing jobs from management informationsystems (MIS), to obtain a detailed breakdown of the potentialconversion of jobs from conventional to digital production,increasing overall profitability.

HP SmartPlanner 3.0 is userfriendly, with increased functionality for added flexibility andreliable results. The tool has the ability to receive automatedupdates, ensuring that the results are based on currentinformation, allowing users to make informed decisions based on thevery latest technology.
