Colin Mahony is Vice President and General Manager for HP Vertica. In this role, he is responsible for overseeing HP Vertica and aligning its analytics capabilities with clients’ Big Data needs.
Prior to this role, Mahony was responsible for operations, product management, marketing and business development at HP Vertica. Before joining HP Vertica, Mahony was a vice president at Bessemer Venture Partners, focused on investments primarily in enterprise software, telecommunications and digital media. Due to his expertise in technology, markets and general management, he has assisted in the creation and ongoing operations of small startups and larger companies. He also worked at Lazard Technology Partners in a similar investor capacity.
Prior to his venture capital experience, Mahony was a senior analyst at the Yankee Group covering databases, business intelligence, middleware, application servers and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems. During his tenure at Yankee Group, Mahony helped build the ERP and Internet Computing Strategies practices.
Mahony earned a bachelor’s degree in economics with a minor in computer science from Georgetown University and a master’s degree in business administration from Harvard Business School.
