HP World Tour – From Beijing to the World

Bringing the spirit of HP Discover to China, HP World Tour made its debut in Beijing this week. The technology showcase attracted over 1,500 IT decision makers from across China, who attended for an up-close look at game changing solutions in cloud, big data, security and mobility that will help  drive the new style of IT.

Meg Whitman at the HP World Tour in Beijing

Meg Whitman kicked off the event by welcoming regional customers, media and partners along with chief operating officer, Bill Veghte, and China MDs Piau Phang Foo and Yi Xiaohui. In her speech, Meg highlighted HP’s commitment to China through its nearly three-decade long “In China, For China” strategy and reinforced the importance of the new style of IT in managing the complexities of a changing industry and explosion of data.

Bill Veghte gave a presentation on cloud strategy, highlighting HP’s innovation agenda in which servers and storage play an equally important role as personal systems and printing. Bill spoke to his favorite product, Moonshot, which fully demonstrates HP’s competitive advantage in cloud infrastructure.

Piau Phang Foo and Yi Xiaohui shared HP’s legacy in China. Since becoming the first Sino-US high-tech joint venture in 1985, HP’s presence has expanded to service and support centers in 1,300 cities, 5,000 HP product sales locations, 31 recycling centers and seven global delivery centers in China.

Announcing a new partnership with Oriental DreamWorks Studio

Later in the session, Meg and Jeffrey Katzenberg, CEO of DreamWorks Animation, announced a new partnership with Oriental DreamWorks Studio. The announcement underpins HP’s long-term partnership with DreamWorks, this time bringing greater impact from China to the world.

HP’s partners in attendance also had a chance to go participate in various breakout tracks presented at the World Tour, including converged cloud, big data and mobility, highlighting the leaders that are driving HP’s progress and presenting innovative solutions for better business models in the region.
