Introducing Large Format PageWide Array Technology
Ever since the launch of the first HP Designjet Printer, we have never stopped working to make large-format printing easier, faster and more affordable. And after 30 years of building this expertise, we are now at a pivotal moment for the reprographics industry. Recognizing the pressures on reprographics operations to affordably deliver great-looking prints with faster turnaround times, we scaled HP PageWide Technology for large-format printing, delivering high-volume quality prints at higher speeds and lower costs than ever before.
By bringing the record-breaking speed of our PageWide Technology to large-format printing, we are poised to change the way that customers produce everyday large-format prints ranging from drawings to maps to posters. Today, monochrome light-emitting diode (LED) printers are prevalent in this $1.3 billion market .(1) Now HP PageWide Technology brings color to an industry that typically prints in black-and-white, without compromising speed or affordability.
But we are not stopping there. We have also expanded the industry's broadest large-format portfolio with new products designed to meet the specific business demands for high-volume, production printing of enterprise organizations, central reprographic departments (CRDs), architectural, engineering, construction (AEC) and design firms, public sector agencies, quick printers as well as small- to medium-sized reprographic houses.
Challenges in the industry
Even as the more than 3 million HP Designjet printers shipped are used in more projects than any other large-format printer, we are still keeping our eye toward the future, and staying aware of the changes in the large-format industry.
For example, customers are now sharing more content digitally than ever before. This is leading to pressures on reprographic operations—including CRDs in large enterprises and standalone reprographics businesses dedicated to printing for clients—to attract and retain customers in new ways. These same customers are also using color more often in more of their documents. Adding color lets customers improve communication but has historically carried time and cost premiums over monochrome prints, meaning reprographics teams have limited choices for providing color at fast speeds and low costs.
At HP, we are facing these challenges with key innovations that increase the speed and lower the cost of color production, improve the efficiency of the production workflow and empower our partners to increase their revenues and margins.
HP PageWide Technology
First introduced in 2012, HP PageWide Technology enabled the HP Officejet Pro X Series to earn the title of the world’s fastest desktop printer, according to the Guinness World Records. PageWide Technology puts tens of thousands of tiny nozzles on a stationary printhead that spans the width of the page. In the process of printing, the page moves, rather than the printhead. This means that the new HP PageWide Technology for large-format can offer high print quality, improved reliability and breathtaking speed.
This breakthrough in how large -format prints are produced not only enables faster turnaround times for both black-and-white and color prints, it also makes it possible to offer color at the same speed and cost as black-and-white.
Expanding the HP Designjet printer line
We’ve also expanded our Designjet printer line, with two new devices and new functionality that address a variety of business demands:
- The HP Designjet T3500 Production eMultifunction Printer (eMFP)—the most productive large-format color multifunction printer in its category, ideal for enterprise organizations.(2)
- The HP Designjet T7200 Production Printer—a full-color large-format printer built for central reprographic departments and reprographic houses with high-volume print demands.
- HP Designjet SmartStream—a software program that streamlines the complete printing workflow.
Our customers are continuously seeking cost-effective and reliable printing technologies that improve the way they work. And we are always innovating in order to help them meet these needs. Our new offerings can handle the volume and diverse print needs of professional organizations across industries, helping them make big impressions with their large prints.
