VIDEO: Disrupting the Cyber Kill Chain with HP Security

Earlier this month, HP unveiled the results from a global study that indicated that the cost, frequency and time to resolve cyber-attacks continue to rise.

Conducted by the Ponemon Institute and sponsored by HP Enterprise Security Products, the 2013 Cost of Cyber Crime Study found that the average annual cost of cybercrime incurred by U.S. organizations was $11.56 million, representing a 78 percent increase since the initial study was conducted four years ago.

It is clear that cyber criminals have evolved drastically over the past decade. These days, they are joining forces in an online marketplace where they share and sell tools, tactics and targets – all aimed at stealing intellectual property and private data. These online adversaries have specialized around different facets of the cyber kill chain, working together to create, share and act on security intelligence to exploit us.

At last month’s HP Protect conference in Washington, DC, we drilled into the cyber kill chain and discussed security needs for this new reality. I explained that security now requires an understanding of the entire attack lifecycle and an ability to address each phase of the kill chain.

This is an area where HP is uniquely suited to help secure organizations by providing end to end security solutions. We have the scale – with eight Global Security Operations Centers worldwide and more than 5,000 experienced and credentialed security professionals – as well as   the breadth and experience. We protect more than $9 trillion in transactions every day, guard more than 200 petabytes of data each year and monitor and manage traffic across thousands of enterprise and government networks globally. We bring together the best of our Enterprise Security products, Security Research and Managed Security Services to help customers disrupt the adversary, manage risk and extend their security capabilities.
