Saar Gillai is the senior vice president and general manager of the Network Functions Virtualization (NVF) business unit. He also leads the HP Communications Service Provider (CSP) vertical and is responsible for the company’s overall telecommunications strategy.
Previously, Gillai served as senior vice president and chief operating officer of HP Cloud, where he played a vital role in growing HP's cloud efforts into a full business unit and to the number one market position in private cloud. He was also instrumental in the development of the HP Helion cloud portfolio, as well as HP’s leadership position in the OpenStack® technology community.
Gillai also served as vice president and general manager of Cloud Networking, where he led the development, marketing, and sales of HP Networking products and solutions for the cloud. Additionally, he served as chief technology officer of HP Networking, with responsibility for technology development, vision, and strategy. In this role, Saar pioneered the concept and implementation for software defined networking (SDN) in products, such as HP Virtual Application Networks.
Prior to joining HP, Gillai was senior vice president of Worldwide Products and Solutions for 3Com, responsible for defining the company’s roadmaps and long-term vision for product lines and solutions. He was a key architect in rebooting 3Com into the enterprise space and driving HP’s acquisition of 3Com.
Gillai has held executive positions at Tropos Networks and Enfora, startups focused on wireless mesh, machine-to-machine, and Internet of Things technologies. He also spent seven years at Cisco Systems in a variety of leadership positions, including vice president of engineering for the Wireless Networking business.
