BARCELONA, Spain, 06 May 2010 - HP today announced that Ramco Group has installed the first HP Indigo press 5500 in Kenya to provide its customers with short-runs, faster turn-around times and variable data printing (VDP) capabilities.
Ramco Group purchased the HP Indigo press in February 2010 to expand its range of print and marketing services. With a diverse customer base of publishers, advertising agencies, corporate companies and designers, the company recognised that many of its clients could benefit from cost-effective short-runs and the fast delivery times achievable with its new digital print capabilities.
"When evaluating the advantages of having a digital press at our disposal, we were primarily enticed by being able to offer our customers a cost-effective solution for printing small quantities and the increased ability to meet short deadlines when necessary," explained Derek Steel of Ramco Group. "These production benefits were evident when we reviewed the HP Indigo press 5500 and since installing it, these capabilities have enabled us to streamline our production process and better meet our customers' requirements with on demand, digitally printed materials.
"We were also particularly impressed with the quality achievable on the HP Indigo press. Producing marketing materials for high-profile companies with strict brand guidelines means that print quality is crucial and we are of the opinion that HP Indigo print quality competes with that attainable with offset. Coupled with the low cost per sheet, we can use the HP Indigo 5500 to produce internal documents, such as presentations for tenders and high-quality proofs, in addition to meeting our customers' print requirements."
To achieve consistent high-quality output, the HP Indigo press 5500 features a wide colour-gamut of HP ElectroInk liquid inks and special, spot colour capabilities, as well as robust colour management with HP Professional PANTONE® emulation and ICC profiles.
Since the installation of the HP Indigo press 5500, Ramco Group is also able to offer its customers new applications using VDP.
"We are currently producing a prototype magazine for a variety of well-known luxury hotel brands. The cover and eight inside pages are being custom printed for each specific hotel," explained Steel. "We anticipate that our new HP Indigo press and will open many new business opportunities like this in the future. Being able to produce more targeted marketing materials, meet shorter deadlines and respond quickly to our customers' printing needs is already attracting new customers and enhancing the services we provide to our existing customers."
