HP Accelerates Enterprises’ Journey to the Cloud
SINGAPORE, 26 September2012 — HP today announced it is expanding its Converged Cloudportfolio with joint HP and Microsoft solutions that simplify andenhance every aspect of a client’s private cloud journey.
The HP and Microsoft JointPrivate Cloud initiative features optimized, preintegratedsolutions based on extensive joint technology development, andoffers one-stop-shop life cycle sales and support.
While organizations areattracted by the flexibility and financial benefits of cloud, theyare struggling with how to get started quickly while addressingrisk areas such as data loss, security and vendor lock-in. Byproviding a clear, proven path along with a single-vendor clientexperience, HP and Microsoft are greatly simplifying andaccelerating the evolution to cloud computing.
The agreement between HPand Microsoft Corp. builds on the HP Converged Cloud strategy toextend the power of the cloud across infrastructure, applicationsand information, providing customers with choice, confidence andconsistency. The expanded HP Converged Cloud offerings include theintegration of HP CloudSystem and Microsoft solutions to helpclients rapidly transform virtualized resources into self-serviceprivate and hybrid cloud environments. HP CloudSystem optimized forMicrosoft provides faster time to value by providing preintegratedsolutions that include HP Converged Infrastructure, cloudmanagement from HP, Windows Server 2012 and Microsoft System Center2012 SP1.
With HP CloudSystemoptimized for Microsoft, customers can streamline and expedite boththe service design and provisioning processes using proventemplates based on best practices, such as HP Cloud Maps, andvirtually eliminate common risks associated with cloud deployments.This solution also includes increased efficiency in storagemanagement with HP 3PAR autonomic thin provisioning, automated datatiering and nondisruptive data mobility features.
In addition, for midsizedbusinesses looking for an economical entry point to cloudcomputing, HP and Microsoft have worked together to deliver atwo-node HP Departmental Private Cloud Reference Architecture. Thissolution combines HP Converged Infrastructure with “shared nothing”live migration, Hyper-V replica and the other breakthroughcapabilities of Windows Server 2012, optimally balancing price andsimplicity with performance, manageability and highavailability.
The integrated HP CloudSystem offerings includecomprehensive interoperability between HP Insight Management andMicrosoft System Center. This enables System Center to deploy,monitor and update HP infrastructure without the administratorhaving to switch between multiple consoles.

Clients get a single point of contactfor their HP-Microsoft solutions, including purchase, deployment,integration and maintenance, as well as support to enhance thecustomer experience and speed resolution time. In addition HP willbe able to offer Windows Server 2012 and Systems Center 2012 at aprice commensurate with a customer’s existing Microsoft EnterpriseAgreement, enabling HP to match the pricing level and offer thevalue of an end-to-end solution transaction.
HP DepartmentalPrivate Cloud Reference Architecture
The HP Departmental Private Cloud Reference Architectureis optimized for delivery through HP channel partners. As part oftheir multiyear agreement in cloud and management, HP and Microsofthave earmarked significant funding for partner cloud programs,incentives, marketing, demand generation and training for sales anddeployment of the HP Departmental Private Cloud.
For HP customers purchasing cloud and virtualizationsolutions that include Windows Server and Microsoft System Center,HP’s pricing will be competitive with their current Enterprise orSelect Plus agreement.
Select HP Converged Cloudsolutions, including the HP Departmental Private Cloud ReferenceArchitecture, are available now through HP and its worldwidechannel partners. Solutions that require Systems Center 2012 SP1will become available in early 2013.
