HP Expands Converged Cloud Portfolio

New solutions offer powerful options to help enterprises on cloud journey

LAS VEGAS -- HP todayexpanded its Converged Cloudportfolio with new offerings that extend the power of the cloudacross infrastructure, applications and information, enablingenterprises to accelerate innovation and enhance agility.

Today’s announcementsinclude solutions for:

  • Delivering converged cloud services for the airlineindustry.
  • Building hybrid cloud environments.
  • Managing the next generation of cloud applications.
  • Increasing office productivity with cloud print solution.
  • Closing the IT cloud expertise skills gap.

Introduced in April, HPConverged Cloud is the industry’s first strategy and portfoliobased on a single architecture that combines private, managed andpublic cloud, as well as traditional IT, to create an environmentthat can rapidly change based on organizational requirements.

Recent research conducted on behalf of HP suggests that by2020, senior business and technology executives expect theirorganizations’ public and private cloud delivery models to nearlydouble.(1) However, if not implemented properly, these deliverymodels could yield cloud silos, creating complexity, risk andvendor lock-in.

Hybrid cloud forthe airline industry
Enabling airlines to quickly introduce new products and servicesto enhance revenue, HP announced its vision of an “IntelligentAirline Cloud,” delivering integrated Software-as-a-Service (SaaS)and Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) platforms that meet thespecific requirements of airline clients. HP Converged Cloud Servicesfor Airlines provides the industry’s first hybrid deliveryapproach to the cloud.

HP Converged Cloud Servicesfor Airlines includes HP Passenger Service Solution, which combines HP’s core traveland transportation industry solutions into a single integratedairline reservation and travel SaaS platform. Its two key services,Airline Reservations and Departure Control, helped HP clients boardmore than 500 million passengers in the past year. The new HP Airline Service Oriented Architecture Platform providesairlines with a modern application-development Platform as aService (PaaS) to drive rapid development of revenue-generatingairline products.

HP Enterprise Cloud Services – Virtual Private Cloud, an IaaSplatform, is delivered from secure and energy-efficientnext-generation data centers equipped with HP ConvergedInfrastructure technology. Leveraging HP’s enterprise-grade cloudcomputing offering on a per-server basis, airlines are able toscale quickly to meet the needs of the business, reducing capitaland operational expenses.

Building hybridcloud environments
HP extended the “cloud bursting” capabilities of HP CloudSystem to deliver instant access to additional capacitythrough HP Cloud Services, Amazon Web Services and Savvis.  Acore element of the HPConverged Cloud portfolio, HP CloudSystem provides a complete,integrated and open platform that enables enterprises and serviceproviders to build and manage services across private, managed andpublic cloud environments.

HP CloudSystem Matrix software enables organizations to reducecloud deployments from several weeks to one day when building acomplete IaaS implementation for virtualized environments. Easilydownloaded software runs on all industry-standard servers supportedby VMware and Microsoft® Hyper-V, including HPProLiant servers.

A new version of HP Cloud ServiceAutomationextends HP’s unified solution for brokering andmanaging application and infrastructure services on HPCloudSystem-based solutions or third-party environments. Clientscan increase IT agility and reduce costs via a self-service portaland highly automated service life-cycle management.

The company also bolsteredits solutions and partner programs for communications managedservice providers delivering cloud services to their businesscustomers with new versions of HP CloudSystem Service Provider andnew members of the HP CloudAgile Service Provider program.

New HP Cloud Planning Services help clients determine theirhybrid delivery options and expedite the planning and analysisphases of cloud deployments. HP Datacenter Care offers clients customized supportrelationship through a single point of contact to deploy, helpoperate and evolve client data centers as they move fromtraditional data centers to a converged cloud model.

Managing the nextgeneration of cloud applications
As clients adopt cloud environments, applications andbusiness-process performance become intertwined, increasingcomplexity.  HP Application Performance Management 9.2 for ConvergedCloudhelps clients manage across converged cloudenvironments, improving the performance management of cloud andmobile applications. Significant enhancements to HP Diagnostics, HP Real User Monitor and HP SiteScope allow close collaboration between operations anddevelopment teams, while providing extended mobile-monitoringcapabilities for applications in cloud environments.

The updated versions of HP Application Lifecycle Management (ALM)  and HP Performance Center (PC) enable organizations to driveenterprise innovation through the continuous delivery ofapplications with new Lab Management Automation and ContinuousApplication Performance Delivery features. These newofferings help organizations break down IT silos so they canquickly deliver high-quality, innovative applications for hybridand cloud environments.

Increasing officeproductivity with cloud print solution
HP’s cloud printing solution for enterprises, HP ePrint Enterprise2.0, enables easy, driverless printing from mobile devicesto an existing fleet of network printers.  Available from HPPrinting and Personal Systems Managed Services, HP ePrintEnterprise 2.0 now offers integration with three additionalpull-printing solutions, localization in 10 languages and visitorprinting capabilities. Apps are available for Android, iPhone®,iPad® and BlackBerry mobile devices.

Closing the ITcloud expertise skills gap
Research shows that 60 percent of chief informationofficers believe that the IT expertise skills gap is hampering theability to execute cloud strategies and solutions.(2) In an ongoingeffort to close the gap, HP ExpertONE, thecompany’s extensive training and certification program for ITprofessionals, introduced two new cloud certifications—the HP Accredited Technical Professional for the cloudadministrator and the HP Accredited Solution Expert for thecloud integrator. These HP ExpertONE cloud certifications areinstrumental in enabling enterprises to transform fromproduct-centric IT to unified service-centric IT that is open,secure, agile and consistent across cloud and traditional ITservices.
