HP Harnesses the Power of Big Data with New Information Optimization Solutions
FRANKFURT, Germany -- HP today announced new and enhanced Information Optimization Solutions that help enterprises manage, understand and act upon the variety, velocity and volume of organizational data to drive maximum “Return on Information.”
Return on Information is the value that organizations generate from their investments in information solutions, services and resources by gaining insight from their data to make better and quicker decisions.
Big data is composed of structured data, from traditional databases; unstructured data consisting of images, videos, emails, texts and more; and semistructured data collected from sensors and machines—and are all factors in the challenge that organizations are facing today.
The volume of the world’s “digital universe” is expected to reach 8 zettabytes by 2015,(1) making storage and management of data a massive challenge. And according to new research conducted on behalf of HP, nearly 60 percent of business executives report that their organizations are not equipped with the right solutions to gain insight from Big Data, and only 10 percent of executives said their organizations currently incorporate unstructured data into their enterprise insights, processes and strategy.(2)
With new solutions from Autonomy and HP Vertica—both HP companies—coupled with new HP Converged Infrastructure solutions and deep services expertise, HP enables businesses and governments to extract value from 100 percent of their structured, semistructured and unstructured information.

To address the need for configuring and deploying Big Data systems, HP today expanded its HP AppSystems portfolio to offer improved customer choice and expanded capabilities of HP Converged Infrastructure with Apache™ Hadoop™, HP Vertica Analytics Platform and Autonomy eDiscovery environments.
The Autonomy Legal and Compliance Performance Suite is an end-to-end solution that uniquely enables organizations to detect and act on new signals of risk; understand, protect, govern and collaborate on information; and maintain compliance with local, federal and international regulations. The suite is powered by the Autonomy Intelligent Data Operating Layer (IDOL), a unique pattern-recognition engine that understands concepts in all forms of information, and includes market-leading offerings for archiving, data protection, enterprise content management (ECM), eDiscovery and records management.
HP Proactive Care for SAP optimizes an infrastructure running SAP solutions, enabling faster analysis of large amounts of data, including application trend analysis, capacity planning and measurement of system resource utilization.
The newly enhanced HP Converged Storage portfolio eliminates administrative complexity, reduces costs and accelerates information insight in virtualized, cloud and Big Data environments.

The HP Vertica Analytics Platform 6.1 is a next-generation analytics platform, purpose built to optimize Big Data. It enables enterprises to optimize and monetize Big Data with analytics packs, performance enhancements, enhanced integration with Hadoop and simplified Amazon EC2 cloud deployments—all at hyperspeed and massive scale.
The new HP Telco Big Data and Analytics solutions enable communication service providers (CSPs) to transform data from a variety of sources, including subscribers’ experience and preferences, into actionable intelligence. Leveraging HP’s Big Data analytics software, as well as HP’s consulting, research, information management and business intelligence experience, HP Telco Big Data and Analytics enable CSPs to manage, analyze and use business-relevant structured and unstructured data.
The HP Big Data Strategy Workshop provides clients with solutions to address some of their biggest information challenges, so they can leverage their data to accelerate informed decisions.
