Cape2Cape 2.0 2015

Cape2Cape 2.0 Tour 2015 – World record accomplished

They've done it. The Cape2Cape 2.0 Challenge is complete, and Rainer Zietlow, Marius Biela and Sam Roach are now World Record holders.

Their arrival at the northernmost point of Norway, Nordkapp, at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday 20 September, marked the end of their grueling, exciting 19,000km route across 21 countries. They completed the trip in just 9 days, 4 hours and 8 minutes.

We are thrilled about their achievement and very proud to have supported this race team in achieving its goal in such an admirable and extraordinary way.

HP and Intel provided the race team with 100% reliable in-car connectivity solutions in even the most remote parts of their route. Along with the end-to-end security solution, the Volkswagen Touareg was effectively turned into a rolling innovation center allowing the adventurers to keep in touch with the outside world 24/7.

Countless sensors gathered 350GB of data during the 9 days of driving; this now lays the foundation for the Analytics use cases. Stay tuned for more information.

Collective determination

Several companies have joined forces with HP to facilitate these insights by means of an end-to-end solution. HP and Intel   provide the overall IT concept and in-car technology, along with the foundational IT infrastructure. Additional in-car sensors are supplied by HBM  , whilst specialist company IAV   is in charge of compiling the car performance data through a data logger streamed to the cloud. SenseCore's   two compact sensors enable the recording of medical-grade ECGs (electrocardiograms) under all conditions. The seamless connectivity of all devices in the race car is guaranteed by HP connectivity partner Cubic Telecom  , on the HP Mobile Connect Solution. Last but not least, satellite network provider Inmarsat   delivers communications even under adverse conditions.
