Gradwell helps Small and Medium Businesses Migrate To The Cloud With HP
BATH, UK, Sept 18, 2012 — HP announced today that Gradwell will help UK small and medium businesses improve IT efficiency with a new cloud Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) platform based on HP Converged Infrastructure and the HP CloudAgile Program.
The HP CloudAgile Program helps service providers such as Gradwell evolve business models and finance expansion into new offerings and markets. By providing access to HP’s salesforce and worldwide network of channel partners, it will enable Gradwell to deliver affordable enterprise-level IT services to thousands of SMBs across the UK, driving efficiency, flexibility and growth.
Gradwell provides IP telephony, business broadband, email and website hosting services to 12,000 SMBs across the UK. Participation in the HP CloudAgile Program will enable the company to rapidly introduce new services such as video on demand, voice over IP (VoIP) telephony and unified communications and collaboration (UC&C), which are key business enablers for SMBs.
“We plan to quadruple our client base in the next four years by bringing the benefits of cloud computing to SMBs,” says Dr Peter Gradwell, Managing Director, Gradwell. “Ultimately, we aim to support SMBs who cannot build and maintain their own data centers. To achieve this we selected an end-to-end HP Converged Infrastructure solution which will simplify IT administration and lower total cost of ownership, allowing us to pass on savings and productivity gains to our customers.”
A virtualised HP Converged Infrastructure platform will deliver fast, flexible IT on-demand via a pay-per-use model. HP ProLiant BladeSystem c7000 enclosures with HP ProLiant BL460c Gen8 and HP ProLiant BL685c server blades will provide multi-hypervisor support for Gradwell’s business-critical VMware, KVM and Parallels applications. High availability HP Virtual Connect FlexFabric 10Gb Ethernet Modules will simplify the connection of the server blades to a storage area network (SAN) based on HP 3PAR storage and an HP local area network (LAN).
HP 3PAR Storage will boost Gradwell’s data storage performance and availability by consolidating resources. Tiered storage minimises risk and balances cost with performance by ensuring that critical data goes into the fastest tier while unused data is automatically moved to lower, less expensive tiers. HP 3PAR Thin Provisioning software will eliminate manual administration and enable Gradwell to purchase only the disk capacity they actually need, as they need it. The whole centrally managed storage environment will be flexible and scalable, giving Gradwell the ability to change and expand its data storage provisioning without pre-planning or downtime.
HP Data Protector software will protect Gradwell’s virtual and physical applications from a + central console, reducing complexity by eliminating the need for multiple backup tools. For secure long-term data protection, an HP MSL2024 LTO Ultrium tape library will automatically create backup tapes for off-site archival and easy retrieval in the event of a disaster.
Gradwell will replace its legacy Cisco network with HP Networking. At the network core, HP 7510 switches will deliver redundancy for minimum IT downtime and 10GB connectivity for maximum performance.
With flexible financing provided by HP Financial Services through the HP CloudAgile Program , Gradwell will be able to modernise its IT infrastructure without large up-front expenditures, helping to conserve capital and optimise cash flow.
HP Gold Specialist Partner DTP Group will provide architectural design and project management skills to ensure that the complex project is completed successfully and without disruption to Gradwell’s business. Ongoing reliability of the entire HP Converged Infrastructure will be underpinned by HP’s 24x7 Proactive Care Support for the next five years.
“SMBs need the same levels of IT performance, agility and service as enterprises,” says Nick Wilson, vice president and managing director, HP UK and Ireland. “Through the HP CloudAgile Program, Gradwell will be able to build a base for hosting today with an upside revenue stream for bursting services tomorrow.”
HP’s premier Europe, Middle East and Africa client event, HP Discover, takes place Dec. 4-6 in Frankfurt, Germany.
