WARSAW, Poland, May 7, 2013 — HP Enterprise Services Poland today announced that PKO Bank Polski has launched IKO, the country’s first secure payment service to meet all the needs of mobile users, with the help of HP Enterprise Mobile Application Services.
PKO Bank Polski’s IKO mobile payment system enables mobile phone users to pay online and in points of sales, withdraw cash from ATMs, check their accounts and make real-time person-to-person money transfers to beneficiaries identified only by their telephone number. The service is available now in 2,700 of PKO Bank Polski’s ATMs and in over 20,000 POS terminals operated by eService, the Bank`s daughter company.
Piotr Alicki, chief information officer at PKO Bank Polski accentuates the openness and innovative features of IKO: “Paying with a mobile phone with PKO Bank Polski`s application creates the new quality regarding easiness, availability, as well as fulfilling customers` needs. Our mobile payment system is technologically ready for joining other market players, including ATM operators, merchants and banks. The project’s basic goals are:
• Building PKO Bank Polski’s new role of the mobile payment market animator
• Origination of open, developing mobile payment standard in Poland
• Providing customers with state-of-the-art and useful way of payments made with a mobile phone
• A new source of commission revenues in prospective channel of m-payment and m-commerce
• Building Bank`s image as an innovator that uses cutting-edge technologies for better fulfillment of customers` financial needs.
HP Enterprise Mobile Application Services ensured that all PKO Bank Polski’s mobile payment, mobile banking and mobile security services are now enabled from a single platform, giving the Bank’s users a secure, fast and easy-to-use alternative to cash. IKO works now with Android, iOS, BlackBerry and Symbian devices. It will shortly be available also for Windows phones. More services like mobile ticketing, loyalty, coupons and gift cards can easily be added.
The business-critical backend systems supporting IKO were designed and implemented by HP Enterprise Mobile Application Services. HP also provides cross-platform and native-environment mobile application development services to deliver context-aware, secure and reliable mobile applications for PKO Bank Polski. The system is based on a mobile security platform from Accumulate SA, Sweden.
