HP Helps Gemeente Gorinchem Improve Service Delivery

GORINCHEM, 26 September, 2013 — HP today announced that Gemeente Gorinchem has improved service delivery while controlling costs with HP Networking.

Gemeente Gorinchem provides services such as healthcare, education and waste disposal to a population of more than 35,000 in the municipality of Gorinchem in Holland.

“We needed to replace our outdated network to support the growing amount of network traffic, and add wireless services at the same time," says ICT Specialist Marcel Lip, Gemeente Gorinchem. “HP redesigned the network to meet our current requirements within budget and provide a scalable future-proof platform for further growth. Continuous access to our data will enable us to run our services more efficiently and cost-effectively.”

HP partner Cab Holland implemented a unified, centrally managed wired and wireless network to help Gemeente Gorinchem meet the needs of its citizens.

At the core of Gemeente Gorinchem’s network, four HP 5900 Switch Series deliver the bandwidth necessary for high-speed communications. At the access layer, 35 intelligent HP 5120 Switch Series deliver wire-speed connectivity. A resilient multi-service HP wireless local area network (WLAN) based on an HP MSM760 Access Controller with 40 HP MSM460 dual radio 802.11n wireless access points throughout the council’s facilities delivers seamless access to the network for mobile devices.

The entire network is centrally managed with HP Intelligent Management Centre (IMC) software, a holistic management solution that provides granular visibility, security and control across the network. HP IMC has eased the workload on Gemeente Gorinchem’s IT team and reduced operating expenses by enabling them to see the whole network, manage it from a single console, and deliver maximum IT availability.

To ensure the highest levels of reliability, the new network will be supported by CarePacks from HP Technology Services for the next three years.

“With limited IT resources and continuing pressure on budgets, local governments need a network that is easy to manage,” says HP. “HP Networking delivers a fully unified, open standards-based solution to increase performance, managability, security and redundancy while reducing IT support costs.”

HP’s premier EMEA client event, HP Discover, takes place Dec. 10-12 in Barcelona, Spain.
