What I have learned
My role has enabled me to see the broader needs of customer infrastructure support. I understand the need for clients to partner with suppliers who can offer solutions that deliver immediate commercial gain and drive continuous improvement while allowing for inherent flexibility. In IT, things move quickly. What is good today may not be useful tomorrow.
I began my career as an electronics engineer by trade. After serving a four-year technical apprenticeship with the UK Ministry of Defense, I ventured into the world of IT as a field services engineer. During that time, I spent four years supporting PDP11 and VAX servers and the next seven years in service-management roles.
For the following 10 years, I worked in service sales before taking on a three-year role as a business manager supervising UK-based global accounts. That experience led me to my current role as an engagement-and-pursuit specialist on HP's multi-vendor support team.
