March 7, 2005 - Following another week of rain, the sun breaks through and work outside begins again. As puddles of rainwater evaporate workers who have been busy shoring up interiors emerge and begin dismantling siding, shingles, roofs and windows on both the house and the shed.

March 1, 2005 - Rain and more rain ushers in the month of March. Plenty of plastic sheeting protects the exposed portions of the house from the water and the ground from contamination. While awaiting further clearances for deconstruction of the chimney, important elements of the house are carefully removed, labeled and packaged for rehabilitation or restoration.

February 24, 2005 - The shingles on the sides and back of the house are nearly gone; the roof over the rear additions is removed, leaving only the rafters behind; and the house gives up a few more secrets - including hidden staircases. By the weekend, the rain is expected to move in again, and special provisions are made to protect the exposed frame of the house from weather and the soil from lead contamination.

February 22, 2005 - Things begin to move fast as deconstruction of the house at 367 Addison Avenue continues. The years are peeled away one layer at a time, the ground-floor rear additions are removed, and more surprises emerge. The work proceeds with special attention to safety and environmental issues, as well as preserving original doors, windows and floors of the century-old house.

February 8, 2005 - Serious deconstruction begins on the back of the house. First on the list of things to go is the rickety stairway and landing added much later to give access to a second floor apartment. Inside, the house is stripped down to the bare bones on both floors. Brick flues are dismantled and removed, as are interior doors.

February 4, 2005 - As the layers of plaster and modernizations are stripped away, the original floor plan and details of the handsome house built for Dr. John Spencer and his family in 1905 begin to emerge. A surprising find is made in the kitchen where Bill and Dave baked paint onto the 200A and 200B audio oscillators.

January 19, 2005 - Preservation and rehabilitation efforts are off and running. The safety fence goes up around 367 Addison Avenue, and a peephole lets passersby view some of the action, while a sign and brochures identify the HP garage rehabilitation. The general contractor for the project is Rudolph & Sletten.
