From ambition to action
The most powerful tools to lift people out of poverty are education and jobs. HP Learning Initiative for Entrepreneurs (HP LIFE) is a global program that offers aspiring entrepreneurs and small business-owners valuable business skills and IT training. HP LIFE has helped create more than 57,000 jobs and 25,000 businesses in 49 countries.
The online curriculum, developed by Education Development Center Inc, (EDC) – a widely recognized e-Learning specialist, covers four main topics: Finance, Marketing, Operations, and Communication. Students choose the courses at the level they need.
HP is collaborating with key educational institutions to broaden access to HP LIFE e-Learning, including the National Association for Community College Entrepreneurship (NACCE) in the US, where it will help to deliver entrepreneurship education within the community college setting. HP LIFE Faculty Ambassadors representing both rural and urban schools will integrate HP LIFE e-Learning into their credit and non credit classrooms.
NACCE and HP anticipate that including on-line learning in the community college classroom will lead to improved student learning outcomes, increased job possibilities, and enriched teaching experiences.
“I’m really excited about how HP LIFE relates to my business courses,” says Dr. James Dottin, HP LIFE Ambassador, NACCE. “I plan to use all 20 modules.”
Ideal for students and teachers
Ideal for students, they can choose from a wide array of interactive, hands-on courses ranging from basic to advanced levels. And new IT and business training courses (in several language versions) are being added regularly. As students progress through the HP LIFE e-Learning curriculum, they gain access to discussion boards and chat rooms designed for entrepreneurs and trainers to share experiences and inspire each other. They can also qualify for e-mentoring including online tutorials and support from HP experts to help manage business challenges.
HP LIFE is ideal for teachers too. They can use HP LIFE e-Learning in both business and non-business related classes since graduates from a range of disciplines may start a company. Teachers can assign HP LIFE modules as homework, use them to foster team-work and collaboration in the class and virtually, and personalize the learning experience based on student needs and interests.
HP LIFE offers students, aspiring entrepreneurs and small business owners a path to realizing their business dreams.
