Is downtime really just a part of doing business? When it comes to the mission-critical applications that dictate the survivability of your business, the answer should be a resounding “no.” HPE Serviceguard for Linux (SGLX) is a high-availability and disaster-recovery solution that provides business continuity for your critical applications, offering the same exceptional capability that you already trust with Serviceguard for HP-UX. It leverages over 25 years of expertise and knowledge, bringing the best-in-class mission critical HP-UX technologies to the Linux environment.

SGLX is designed to address the financial, business and operational impacts of planned and unplanned downtime in demanding x86/Linux environments. It improves infrastructure security, protects data and information, and aligns business continuity objectives to business requirements.

And delivers fast failover and recovery while maintaining data integrity and performance, protecting against major site outages.

What's new

  • SGLX now supports VMware vSphere Virtual Machine File System (VMFS) based volumes, host-based LVM mirroring for Extended Distance Cluster and Tighter RPO monitoring for Metrocluster based DR.
  • Achieve near zero RPO over extended distances/constrained bandwidth with SGLX support for 3PAR True Async and recover quickly in VMware environments with 3PAR peer persistence feature.
  • With Asymmetric DR, achieve significant TCO optimization with uneven number/type of nodes now supported in a stretched cluster; reduce IT costs by consolidating with Oracle 12c multi-tenancy support.
  • Enhanced DR capabilities for distributed applications - Smarter Quorum server that prevents unnecessary failover of active workloads in a split-brain, and SADTA* for failover of dependent packages.
  • SGLX supports Oracle 12c, RHEL7, SLES12, VMware 6.0, Sybase ASE 16.0 and KVM with FC access. Available on all shipping ProLiant, HPE Integrity Superdome X and CS500 and CS900 appliances for SAP HANA.

Fast Failover and Protection in the Data Center

HPE Serviceguard for Linux monitors the availability of critical resources and applications and provides fast failover in the event of a failure, in as little as four (4) seconds. 1

Combined with SGeSAP extension for HANA, HPE Serviceguard for Linux reduces the need for manual intervention and the downtime in case of planned/unplanned failures for the critical HANA databases.

The Toolkits and Extensions portfolio offers predefined scripts that allow it to automatically setup applications within Serviceguard clusters. This can cut up to 93% of the production time, which usually takes days—4x faster deployment with consistent admin of mission critical workloads. 2

Disaster Recovery Capability

HPE Serviceguard for Linux with its Disaster Recovery features enables you to remain online even after the loss of a data center, practically regardless of the distance. It allows you to maintain access to critical data and applications without impacting performance.

With its SADTA support for HANA, HPE Serviceguard for Linux promises greater robustness, resiliency and availability for your applications and services.

HPE Serviceguard for Linux Disaster Recovery Solutions lowers the cost of IT operations by reducing the financial impact of downtime and time spent on cluster management.

Zero Downtime During Maintenance

HP Serviceguard for Linux has a key feature called “Live Application Detach (LAD)” that allows you to do maintenance of the Serviceguard cluster infrastructure (including the heartbeat network) with almost zero downtime. 3

Monitors the availability of applications, services, databases, and platforms over distances, while protecting against outages and reducing downtime during planned maintenance windows.

High Data Integrity and Easy Maintenance

HPE Serviceguard for Linux cluster arbitration is essential for the highest level of availability and data integrity. Hewlett Packard Enterprise offers Quorum Service, a feature that allows Serviceguard for Linux to provide one of the highest levels of data integrity and reliability.

It has efficient fault detection and tolerant capabilities, automatically failing over critical applications to safer nodes and resuming normal operations without compromising data integrity.

HPE Serviceguard Manager for Linux allows users to visually configure, monitor, manage and administer a cluster and its components (such as nodes, packages). Intuitive color-coded icons will help quickly identify problems with the cluster so users can quickly react and resolve issues.
