Setting up the Fax to PC Tool

You can configure the Fax to PC tool from the congratulations window just at the end of the software installation process or from HP Solution Center once the HP All-in-One software is already installed.

NOTE: You could find minor differences between the images below and those in your computer during the configuration depending on the HP All-in-One model and software version.

Follow the steps below to configure Fax to PC on your HP All-in-One printer:

1. When the congratulations window comes up just at the end of the software installation process, click the Activate Fax to PC button to open the Fax to PC Setup Wizard.
   
   
   
   If you are configuring Fax to PC at a later stage, open HP Solution Center:
   
   - Windows XP: Click Start, click All Programs, click HP, and then click HP Solution Center.
   
   - Windows Vista and Windows 7: Click the Windows icon on the Windows task bar, click Programs, click HP, and then click Solution Center.
   
   Once HP Solution Center is open, place the cursor on More Fax Settings and click Fax to PC Setup Wizard from the drop-down list that opens.
   
   

2. Thereafter, a new window opens showing a description of the Fax to PC tool; click the Next button.
   
   

3. The next window that opens allows you to activate the Fax to PC tool, change the destination where the incoming black & white faxes will be saved and enable incoming fax notifications in the host computer.
   
   
   

The Fax to PC HP tool is already configured; to make any changes run again the Fax to PC Setup wizard as described above or make the changes from the Fax to PC menu on the HP All-in-One control panel.

NOTE: 
Disable the Print Fax option from the HP All-in-One control panel if you do not want to print the incoming faxes but only save them to your PC

You can configure the Fax to PC tool from HP Solution Center Lite, therefore the HP All-in-One software must be previously installed on your PC.

Follow the steps below to configure Fax to PC on your HP All-in-One printer:

1. Open HP Solution Center Lite (). To do so:
   
   Windows XP

   1. Click the Start button at left side of your desktop.

   2. Select All Programs.

   3. Select your HP All-in-One model name (e.g. HP Officejet Pro 6500A E710a).

   4. Select your HP All-in-One model name again (e.g. HP Officejet Pro 6500A E710a).

   Windows Vista & Windows 7

   1. Click the Windows icon on the Windows task bar.

   2. Select Programs.

   3. Select your HP All-in-One model name (e.g. HP Officejet Pro 6500A E710a).

   4. Select your HP All-in-One model name again (e.g. HP Officejet Pro 6500A E710a).

2. Once HP Solution Center Lite is open, double-click Fax Actions.
   
   

3. Double-click Digital Fax Setup Wizard.
   
   

4. Click the Setup button to start setting up the Fax to PC service.
   
   
   
   NOTE: If Fax to PC had been previously configured, the Setup button would be replaced by Modify.
   
   
   
   Two other buttons are available at this stage:
   
   - Turn on / Turn off: Activate or deactivate the Fax to PC service.
   
   - Archive Now: Fax to PC connects on a regular basis to the HP AIO printer to check whether there are some incoming faxes stored in the memory to be archived. The Archive Now button allows you to do so immediately at any time.

5. After clicking the Setup or Modify buttons a new window opens from which you can manually insert the route to the folder where a copy of the incoming faxes will be stored or search and select that folder using the Browse button.
   
   
   
   Once the route to the folder is in place, click the Next button.

6. The next step allows you to decide whether incoming faxes will be saved only when you are logged into your account or always.
   
   
   
   Select the option that suits you better and click the Next button.

7. The last step allows you to decide the interval at which your PC checks the HP All-in-One printer for new incoming faxes and choose whether to receive fax alerts on your PC.
   
   
   
   Select the options that suits you better and click the Finish button.

The Fax to PC HP tool is already configured; to make any changes run again the Digital Fax Setup Wizard as described above or make the changes from the Fax to PC menu on the HP All-in-One control panel.

NOTE:
Disable the Print Fax option from the HP All-in-One control panel if you do not want to print the incoming faxes but only save a digital copy to your PC
