The HP Fax stops responding after going into Sleep mode
Your HP All-in-One printer stops responding after going into Sleep or Power Save mode? None of printer functions seem to work and the printer does not respond to pressing any buttons or touching the touchscreen?
Learn how to troubleshoot your HP All-in-One printer if it enters an irresponsive state every time it goes into Sleep mode.

The HP All-in-One printer can be returned to a responsive state by unplugging the power cable, and then plugging it back in. To do so:
Unplug the power cable from the wall outlet.
Wait 60 seconds, and then plug the power cable back into the wall outlet.
If the HP All-in-One printer or HP Fax does not turn on automatically, press the Power button.

NOTE: This solution is not suitable for all HP All-in-One or HP Fax models. Check the documentation and manuals that came with your HP All-in-One printer or HP Fax to know if Energy Save Mode can be disabled.
Turn off Energy Save Mode by following the steps below:
Press the Setup button and select Preferences.
Search for Energy Save Mode and set it to Off.

Follow these steps to make sure your HP All-in-One printer is plugged into a wall outlet with no power strip or surge protector:
Disconnect the power cable from the back of the HP All-in-One printer of HP Fax.
Unplug the power cable from any power strip, surge protector or extension cord.
Plug the power cable back into a wall electrical outlet.
Reconnect the power cable to the back of the HP All-in-One printer or HP Fax.
If the HP All-in-One printer or HP Fax does not turn on automatically, press the Power button to turn it on.
What to do next:
If the steps above resolved the issue, you do not need to continue troubleshooting.
If the issue persists, continue to the next solution.

- Follow these steps to reset your HP All-in-One printer or HP Fax:
Press the Power button to turn on the HP All-in-One printer or Fax.
Disconnect the power cord from the rear of the HP All-in-One printer or Fax.
Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
Wait at least 15 seconds.
Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the HP All-in-One printer or Fax.
- If the HP All-in-One printer or Fax does not turn on automatically, press the Power button to turn it on.
What to do next:
If these steps resolved the issue, you do not need to continue troubleshooting.
If the issue persists, continue to the next solution.

Follow these steps to make sure that the USB cable does not ground out the HP All-in-One printer:
Press the Power button to turn off the HP device.
Disconnect the USB cable from the back of the HP All-in-One printer.
- Press the Power button to turn on the HP All-in-One printer.
What to do next:
If the issue does not occur again, replace the USB cable with a new one.
If the issue still occurs, continue to the next solution.

Check the HP Web site for a firmware update suitable for your HP All-in-One model and (in case your HP All-in-One printer is compatible with ePrint) search for product updates from the HP All-in-One control panel.
