HP Trusted Advisors Reduce Complexity of Designing and Building Data Centers
PALO ALTO, Calif. -- HP today announced a new consulting service that addresses the complexities and reduces the risks associated with the strategic direction, design and building of data centers.
The HP Trusted Advisor service offers HP consulting experts who work closely with clients to consider all aspects of business operations, IT infrastructure and facilities, as well as the enablement of technologies, such as cloud and green computing. As a result, clients can establish an aligned data center and IT strategy that meets business goals and objectives.
“Our clients’ time and capital commitments can be staggeringly high and the margin for error extremely small when building or updating a data center,” said Rick Einhorn, worldwide director, Critical Facilities Services, HP. “HP’s professional data center consultants have the unique ability to provide a truly integrated delivery framework across all disciplines involved to guide clients through complex, pivotal decisions, while keeping the programs on schedule and within budget.”
HP Trusted Advisor, part of the HP Critical Facilities portfolio, works as a partner to clients through all phases of a data center program. The service, designed to work within a Converged Infrastructure strategy, takes a programmatic approach to maintain the life cycle of a data center facility. It includes analysis and recommendations for the business case approval process, planning, design and build, commissioning, and migration processes.
Steel ORCA LLC designs, builds and operates data centers powered by variable energy sources. By engaging with an HP Trusted Advisor, it is transforming a former industrial site into a high-performance, high-power facility ideal for the development of a data center co-location business.
The new facility, Steel ORCA Bucks County DC, will provide turnkey data center solutions that include co-location, managed hosting and professional services. It will run on resource-efficient, lower-cost power that will benefit Steel ORCA’s customers as well as the local community.
“We are able to fulfill our vision of building a data center that addresses concerns by many data center clients focused on mandates and incentives to reduce carbon footprint, yet provide optimal high-density and high-performance computing,” said David Crocker, chairman and chief executive officer, Steel ORCA LLC. “HP’s Trusted Advisor service guided us in developing a world-class data center program strategy and design. They are now in charge of the design and will oversee the building and commissioning of the facility.”
The HP Trusted Advisor service is available worldwide through HP Technology Consulting Services. Pricing varies according to location and implementation. More information is available in a Steel ORCA LLC HP case study.
