HP introduces micro-publishing market opportunities at a seminar organised by the Creative Printers Network at drupa

Seminar designed to support professional photographers, designers, architects, publishers and other creatives and the printers that serve them

DÜSSELDORF, Germany, 25 April 2012 - HP announced today that together with the Creative Printer Network (independent forum of professional labs using HP Indigo presses) it will be presenting a seminar on the growing opportunities available in micro-publishing made possible by digital printing as part of the activities of the Creative Printers Network, on May 7, Room 28, CCD Süd, Düsseldorf Messe at 17.00.

Digital printing has enabled a broad base of creative professionals (including professional photographers, designers and architects) to publish very high quality, colour books in runs as small as 50 - 300 copies. Short-run, high-quality art books enable creators to show their work cost-effectively, while generating high-value pages for print service providers (PSPs) and providing outstanding examples of HP Indigo digital print quality.

Micro-publishing creates business and marketing opportunities for all parties involved, content creators, publishers and PSPs.

"The aim of the seminar is to examine the nature and potential of micro-publishing; explain the workflow; look at the economic model and share best practice," said Rafael Kraus, EMEA Indigo Photo Segment Manager, HP.  "What is clear, however, is that micro-publishing is not a micro-market but a fast-expanding segment that serves a large audience. We hope that HP Indigo customers who are interested in addressing this opportunity will come to hear and learn from speakers who have found success in micro-publishing."

Speakers at the seminars include four industry experts from the publishing, printing and photography sectors.

Yannick Bouillis, organiser of the Amsterdam Book Fair and Offprint Paris; Rémy Faucheux and Mathieu Charon, designer and editor at RVP Books; Thomas Freitag, CEO of Bubu, a print service provider from Switzerland, and  Thomas Hoepker, photographer and past president of Magnum Photos.
