Aviva Signs Agreement with HP to Support Improved Collaboration
LONDON, U.K., February 3, 2011 – Hewlett-Packard Limited today announced Aviva has signed a nine year messaging contract based on Microsoft Business Productivity Online Suite (BPOS) designed to improve productivity and enhance collaboration across all of Aviva’s global regions. This will include HP assuming responsibility for existing Microsoft Online SharePoint and Office Communicator solutions.
This new agreement is an enhancement to the global outsourcing agreement that was signed in February 2009, and is a key driver of Aviva’s strategy to implement a unified communications capability across its organization.
HP will migrate Aviva’s existing IBM Lotus Notes messaging environment, including applications and approximately 30,000 user mailboxes, to the Microsoft BPOS solution. The Microsoft BPOS solution will be delivered from Microsoft’s data centre in Dublin, Ireland.
“This new messaging and collaboration environment brings new functionality and will help increase employee productivity as well as reduce our cost of ownership” said Malcolm Simpkin, Aviva UK General Insurance CIO. “We worked closely with HP to create a clear business case for change which aligns to our overall workplace strategy.”
“Aviva wanted to modernise their messaging infrastructure by implementing a unified communications platform,” said Craig Wilson, vice president, HP Enterprise Services, UK. “HP, together with Microsoft, has designed a solution based on the Microsoft BPOS solution to help Aviva improve collaboration and built a comprehensive migration plan to minimize risk through the transition.”
