Cestrian Imaging expand commercial print offering with new HP Indigo 7500 Digital Press

BARCELONA, Spain, 09 March 2011 - HP today announced that Cestrian Imaging of Cheshire, UK, has installed an HP Indigo 7500 Digital Press to expand its capacity for short run, commercial applications and increase its variable data print (VDP) offering.

Cestrian Imaging is one of the leading suppliers of digital print, historically providing high quality large format applications for an extensive customer base within the retail, trade and exhibition sectors. About six years ago, the company decided to expand its services to include short-run, commercial print and a web-to-print online shop called Digital Print Express, where customers can quickly and easily design and order a range of printed products.

"Our focus has always been to be innovative and create new opportunities for our customers," said Phil Reynolds, operations director, Cestrian Imaging. "We decided a long time ago that it's not just about adding ink to paper, but that we needed to be a digital business and provide the most up-to-date services and be equipped with the latest technology within this field."

Demand for the Cestrian Imaging's online and commercial print services has grown rapidly since their introduction, winning the company business from existing and new customers alike.

"Take up for the online shop and commercial offering was immediately successful. To continue to grow these services and keep up with the increasing demand, we needed to invest in a reliable, high volume digital press that featured cutting-edge technology," said Paul Whitehurst, managing director, Cestrian Imaging. "Having been an HP customer for around 10 years with six HP Scitex Printers, we knew that HP would have the technology we were looking for and sure enough, the HP Indigo 7500 ticked all the boxes."

Installed in November 2010, the HP Indigo 7500 Digital Press delivers unprecedented productivity, quality and ease of operation. Designed for high-volume output, the press can print up to 120 A4 pages per minute (ppm) in full colour or 240 ppm in either monochrome or two colours.

Whitehurst continued, "We are very impressed with the speed of production and the high-quality print achievable with the HP Indigo 7500, enabling us to meet very short deadlines and still provide a premium quality product. As such, our new press has already helped win us business in the short time we've had it.

"We intend to fully utilise the VDP capabilities of our HP Indigo 7500 in order to offer more products that feature variable content and personalisation - ideal for our customers looking to create unique and highly targeted marketing materials. We also plan to make use of the exceptional colour range and additional spot colours available with the press, as many of our clients' own brands or their customers' brands require extremely accurate and consistent colour reproduction."

The HP Indigo 7500 Digital Press has the widest and most accurate digital colour gamut on the market, offering up to seven ink stations, allowing 4-, 6-, and 7-colour Pantone® emulation, and off-press mixing, matching up to 97 percent of Pantone® colours. In addition, the white ink option kit, exclusive to HP Indigo, enables the printing of high-value pages on specialised substrates, including transparent, metallic, and coloured media.

Talking about the advanced colour capabilities of the HP Indigo 7500, Whitehurst concludes, "It's great to be able to offer these kinds of benefits to our existing and target customers. We consider ourselves to be a business that's always seeking innovation and looking for ways in which we can expand and enhance our services. HP's forward-thinking approach to product design is in line with this company ethos and we're confident that our latest investment will support the next steps we take as a business."
