GETTING STARTED

WATCH OVERVIEW

The Movado BOLD Motion has a button (1) on the left side of the case that controls the watch functions. Press it once to change the watch view. The views display in the following order: analog, progress tracker status, digital battery status, Bluetooth status. Analog view is displayed by default, and the watch returns to analog view after five seconds of inactivity.

The crown (2) is located on the right side of the case and is used only to set the time.

NOTE: Do not operate the watch button or pull the crown out while the watch is wet or underwater.

SETTING THE TIME

  • 1.Gently pull the crown out to position (2); the seconds hand stops moving.
  • 2.Rotate the crown in either direction to move the hour and minute hands to the desired time.
  • 3.Push the crown back in to position (1); the seconds hand restarts.

NOTE: After setting the time, the crown must be pushed back down into the case to ensure water resistance.

CHARGING THE WATCH

The watch contains two batteries. One battery controls the digital functions of the watch and can be recharged. The other battery controls the analog functions of the watch and is not rechargeable. Before you set up the watch, charge it for at least two hours. When the battery that controls digital functions is fully charged, it should last five to seven days with minimal use.

The first time you charge the watch, it might not vibrate or illuminate. When you connect the watch to power after the first time, the watch vibrates twice and the lights between 3 and 9 o’clock fully illuminate and then fade, to show the current digital battery status. When all seven lights illuminate again and stop pulsing, the watch is fully charged.

Each time you need to charge your watch, disconnect the charger from power and thoroughly wipe the charger and watch contact pins with a soft, lint-free cloth before connecting the charger to power and then to the watch. If needed, you may dampen the cloth with a small amount of isopropyl rubbing alcohol. Never use soap or any chemicals other than isopropyl rubbing alcohol to clean the contact pins on the watch or charger.

Make sure that the isopropyl alcohol does not come into contact with the watch strap.

Replacement of either battery—for the analog or the digital functions—requires service from a Movado Authorized Service Center. For locations, visit www.mgiservice.com/movado. Never open the watch or attempt to replace the batteries yourself; opening the watch case will void your warranty. Movado Group assumes responsibility only for service performed at its Authorized Service Centers.

FAQS

General information about the Movado BOLD Motion watch
Does the watch work without a smartphone?

If the watch becomes disconnected from your phone, it will continue to tell time. The watch requires a smartphone and the Movado BOLD app for full smartwatch functionality, such as notifications and progress tracking.

Is the watch water resistant?

Although the watch has been tested to meet international standards for water resistance, it should not be submerged in water, and the contact pins should be dried promptly with a soft, lint-free cloth if they get wet. Moisture and electrolyte residues (salts and chlorides) can cause corrosion and possibly short-circuit the contact pins.

The contact pins must be moisture-free before you attach the charging cable.

Can I change the watch strap?

Yes, the watch strap is replaceable; however, specialized tools are required. It is recommended that you have the strap replaced by an Authorized Movado Service Center. For locations, visit www.mgiservice.com/movado

Where can I find the watch serial number?

The watch serial number is etched on the back of the watch. After the Movado BOLD app is installed on your smartphone and the watch and phone are paired, you can also access the serial number inside the app. Select HELP, and then find the serial number toward the bottom of the screen.

Why doesn’t the serial number in the app match the serial number on the back of the watch?

If your watch has undergone repairs at an Authorized Movado Service Center and the original module was replaced, the serial number etched on the back of the watch might no longer match the serial number that shows in the app.

Why aren’t the watch hands lighting up?

The watch hands are not designed to light up. The Movado dot and the notification lights around the watch face are the only lighted features on the watch. Pressing the button once allows you to tell time in the dark using lighting patterns around the watch face.

Installing the Movado BOLD app
Which versions of iOS/Android are supported?

The Movado BOLD app is designed for use with most smartphones running iOS version 8 and later or Android version 4.4 and later.

Are tablets supported?

No. Tablets, including iPads and Android tablets, are not supported. The watch works only with smartphones running iOS version 8 and later or Android version 4.4 and later.

How do I install the app for iOS?

On your iPhone, go to www.movado.com/boldmotion and install the Movado BOLD app for iOS. Alternatively, open your app store and search for Movado BOLD. Select Install to download and install the app.

How do I install the app for Android?

On your Android phone, go to www.movado.com/boldmotion and install the Movado BOLD app for Android. Alternatively, open the Google Play Store and search for Movado BOLD. Select Install to download and install the app.

How many sign-in attempts will the app give me?

After entering an incorrect password for the third time, you will have to wait 15 minutes before attempting to sign in again.

Using the Movado BOLD Motion watch
Why is the watch not responding during initial setup?

When purchased, the watch might be in "shipping mode." To activate the watch, charge the watch for at least four hours, and then press and hold the watch button until lights move around the edge of the dial. Activation can take 5 to 10 seconds.

How do I set the time?

Gently pull out the watch crown until it clicks. Rotate the crown in either direction to move the hour and minute hands to the desired time, and then push it back in.

Can the watch light up to display the time when it’s dark?

Press the watch button once for Digital Time view, which shows the time using the watch LED lights. The lights illuminate to show the current time as determined by the phone app. The Movado dot and the hour light illuminate. The minute light pulses.

For example, at 10:09, the 10 o’clock light illuminates and the 1 o’clock light illuminates and then quickly pulses four times to let you know it is four minutes past 10:05, or 10:09. At 10:10, the 10 o’clock light illuminates and the 2 o’clock light illuminates (without pulsing) to indicate it is exactly 10:10.

If the hour and minute are represented by the same light, the light illuminates then fades to show the hour, and then slowly pulses once to indicate the minute. If it is exactly on the minute (for example, 10:50), the light does not pulse again. Otherwise, it quickly pulses the number of minutes past the marker. At 10:51, the 10 o’clock light illuminates then fades, slowly pulses once, and then quickly pulses once, to represent 10:51.

How do I transfer ownership of the watch, or use the watch with a different phone?
  1. In the app, select the PREFERENCES tab. Select either SIGN OUT or FORGET WATCH.
  2. Respond to any dialog boxes that open. The app returns to the login screen.
  3. If the watch is actively connected to the phone when you sign out or forget the watch, the watch automatically resets to factory settings. If the watch is not actively connected to the phone when you sign out or forget the watch, reset the watch to factory settings using the following steps:
    1. Press and hold the watch button for 22 seconds.
    2. After all lights cycle clockwise once, release the button.
    3. The lights cycle counterclockwise, pulse once, and then the watch resets. NOTE: After the factory reset, the lights cycle clockwise, indicating the watch is in Bluetooth pairing mode.
  4. If you are using Android, the watch is now unpaired and ready to pair with a different phone.

If you are using iOS, open the phone Settings menu, select Bluetooth, tap the i icon next to Movado. Tap Forget this device. The watch is now unpaired and ready to pair with a different phone.

What is the difference between SIGN OUT and FORGET WATCH?

SIGN OUT allows you to sign in with a different account. Signing in with a new account after signing out deletes your locally-stored user data, such as app settings and step progress information

FORGET WATCH allows you to stay signed in and associate a new watch with your account.

  2. Connect the USB end of the power cable to a power source, such as a USB port on your computer or a USB-to-AC plug adapter connected to a wall outlet. The watch vibrates twice and the battery status displays when the charger is connected properly.
NOTE: The watch might not vibrate or light up the first time you connect the watch to the charger.
  3. Charge the watch for at least four hours.
  4. 4. When finished, first disconnect the power cable from the power source, and then disconnect the charger from the watch.
NOTE: Each time you charge the watch, disconnect the cable from the power supply, and thoroughly wipe the charger and watch contact pins with a soft, lint-free cloth. If needed, you may dampen the cloth with a small amount of isopropyl rubbing alcohol. Make sure the rubbing alcohol does not come into contact with any other parts of the watch or the watch strap. Never use soap or any other chemicals to clean the watch contact pins or charger.
What type of power supply should I use when charging the watch?

Use a USB-to-AC adapter, such as the adapter that came with your smartphone. Alternatively, you can connect the power cable to a USB port on your computer, although the watch might not charge as quickly using this method.

How long does the watch take to charge?

The watch takes approximately 2 to 3 hours to charge from 25% to 100%.

How often do I need to charge the watch?

You should be able to use the watch for five to seven days with low use before it needs to recharge.

How do I view the amount of digital battery remaining?

In the phone app, view the remaining battery percentage at the bottom of the home screen.

On the watch, when no lights are illuminated and no notifications are active, press the button three times to view the battery status. The lights between 3 and 9 o'clock show the remaining charge.

  • When all seven lights are illuminated, the battery is fully charged.
  • When the lights between 4 and 8 o’clock are illuminated, the remaining charge is 75%.
  • When the lights between 5 and 7 o'clock are illuminated, the remaining charge is 50%.
  • When only the 6 o'clock light is illuminated, there is less than 25% charge remaining.

There is an automatic notification for low battery on the watch. The lights between 3 and 9 o’clock fully illuminate, then dim to 35% brightness. The bottom light pulses to indicate that the battery level is critically low.

Will the watch still keep time if the battery level is critically low?

The watch contains two batteries. One battery controls the digital functions of the watch and can be recharged. The other battery controls the analog functions of the watch and is not rechargeable. When the digital battery level is critically low, the other battery continues to power the analog watch function.

The watch hands stopped moving, but I still get notifications and the watch is still connected to the phone.

The battery that powers the analog watch functions might need to be replaced. Battery replacement requires service from an Authorized Movado Service Center. For locations, visit www.mgiservice.com/movado. Never open the watch or attempt to replace the batteries yourself; opening the watch case will void your warranty. Movado Group assumes responsibility only for service performed at its Authorized Service Centers.
