"Everything as-a-
Service is our fastest
growing pipeline."
—Dion Weister, HP CEO
This is the first article in a new three-part series entitled, “The Everything-as-a-Service Revolution.” The series will provide insight into HP’s Everything-as-a-Service expertise and innovation, a key part of the company’s growth strategy.
Technology innovations and customer demands are disrupting traditional business models and pushing companies to evolve and adapt. Trends like rapid urbanization, hyper globalization, accelerated innovation, and changing demographics are driving more customers to consider Everything-as-a-Service (XaaS) offerings to improve agility, security, and IT ROI.
From computing to printing and technology services, XaaS providers can give customers a one-stop experience that can change and scale based on their unique needs.
Mobile, always-on users demand more from their IT. They look to improve their workflows, in order to support the bottom line and address end-user needs. Companies need to increase agility, develop streamlined processes, reduce costs, and protect against security risks to stay competitive. To do that, companies are engaging in strategic partnerships and services, and expanding the service-oriented economy, including XaaS offerings.
HP is an ideal XaaS partner because of its long history of providing best-in-class consumer and enterprise print services. HP’s offerings started a decade ago when the company launched Managed Print Services (MPS), enabling customers to reduce up to 30 percent of their costs.
In the past 10 years HP has transformed from an emerging player to a market leader in MPS. HP is actively expanding its Print Services portfolio to help clients around the world manage and protect their print environment. HP is driving this XaaS movement in both direct sales and channel partnerships through strategic investments in hardware, software, services, and channel programs.
Along with their partners and channel-enabled services, HP has transformed into a market leader by building processes, intellectual property, and experienced experts who know how to assess customer needs and deliver a managed print contract with customized service.
MPS also delivers a substantial cost improvement. In fact, MetLife, a leading global provider of insurance, annuities, and employee benefit programs, recently experienced considerable savings. After a previous managed print contract with another vendor, MetLife set new and significant goals with HP for the next phase of their managed print services. They added color capabilities, increased duplex printing, advanced printer consolidation, and strengthened security. MetLife moved forward on every one of its goals, plus they reduced their carbon footprint, introduced mobile printing, and reduced overall costs.

"With Xaas, companies
can literally customize the
printing and technology
services they need,
as they need them."
—Christoph Schell
President Americas, HP
The importance of security in XaaS is growing, too. HP’s most advanced, embedded security functionality is available on HP Enterprise-level MPS devices. HP offers a combination of security capabilities including complete security audits and protection for your corporation and customers’ data.
A3 Multifunction Printers (MFPs) are a central element of many print and technology services. The printers are named after the paper size 11.69 x 16.53 inches (29.7 cm x 42 cm) most commonly used in U.S. office copiers. It’s also industry shorthand for high-volume, multi-user copiers for small- and medium-sized businesses and enterprises. The printers work for a variety of jobs — everything from black-and-white pages to colorful booklets with hundreds of pages. They also have fewer service parts than a traditional copier, making them easier and far less expensive to service.
HP is also introducing its next-generation A3 MFP portfolio. These include large multifunction printers like the PageWide and LaserJet devices, known for their speed, flexibility, and high volume. And while the copier segment is well established, HP’s portfolio is bringing new innovations that will differentiate HP’s offerings including cost savings, reliability, serviceability, and analytics technologies. In fact, A3 MFPs is an opportunity for HP to further their innovations, enabling low costs for color and service, along with increased security, shaping the office of the future.

Managed Print Services allows HP to do a complete audit and protect your corporation and customer's data
HP offers support services across the entire lifecycle of A3 MFPs, including installation, availability of service parts, and support. In combination with HP’s trained partners, customers have access to highly-trained experts who can provide remote and onsite service. The new, more secure HP A3 MFPs enable customers to protect their confidential and private information from cyber attacks.
Smart Device Services (SDS) will also enhance efficiency. SDS’ cloud tool has device-based sensing capabilities that channel partners can integrate with their own service management tools. It dramatically enhances service efficiency and maximizes the uptime on customers’ HP devices. By diagnosing problems and resolving them remotely, resellers can make fewer service trips.

HP has introduced our next-generation A3 PageWide and Laser Jet printer portfolio,
all with Smart Device Services enabled.
HP is also spearheading the 3D printer revolution. Ensuring the broad availability of 3D printing services to customers, HP is reinventing how users prototype and produce functional parts around the globe. HP’s Jet Fusion 3D printing solutions, Certified HP 3D printing reseller services, and vast Service Bureau network ensures 3D printing customers have access to the value-added services, that underpin this revolution.
XaaS is the future, and HP is bringing its expertise and passion to the forefront. Now with its expanded portfolio of the world’s most secure A3 MFPs, robust solutions, and innovative 3D printing, HP is reinventing XaaS offerings.
