Building on more than 60 years of work with the U.S. military and federal government, HP today announced it has been selected by the U.S. Air Force (USAF) to provide new HP Workstation and desktop PCs as part of its enterprise IT purchase program.

This latest award builds on the more than 400,000 units of HP client products deployed by the USAF throughout the continental United States, Europe and Asia Pacific.

The award is part of the USAF DLS (desktop, laptop and servers) Quarterly Enterprise Buy (QEB). In compliance with USAF requirements, HP will include customized security configurations that meet strict specifications and tests.

“This award demonstrates HP’s standing as a long-time premier technology provider and trusted IT innovator for the U.S. Defense market,” said Stephen DeWitt, senior vice president and general manager, Personal Systems Group, HP. “HP’s portfolio of products and solutions contributes to the daily administration and protection of our nation.”

USAF facilities worldwide will use an array of HP platforms, including HP workstations and mobile workstations that combine sleek style and energy efficiency with high-grade functionality.

The QEB award will include the HP xw4600 Workstation, which combines next-generation performance technologies into a powerful, flexible and reliable single processor socket workstation. Dual PCIe X16 Gen2 graphics interfaces provide up to four times the performance of previous graphics interfaces, along with the ability to power multiple displays without compromise. Additionally, with an 80 PLUS efficient power supply standard and Electronic Products Environmental Assessment Tool (EPEAT®) registered configurations available, the HP xw4600 is designed to optimize energy use while maintaining high-performance power, versatility and reliability.

The HP EliteBook 8730w Mobile Workstation will be delivered in both standard and customized secure configurations that meet the USAF’s secure product category requirements and features unprecedented power and performance.

The Air Force Information Technology Commodity Council (AF ITCC), which includes top Air Force officials, evaluates vendors’ submissions for the QEB and their ability to deliver quality enterprise computing in the toughest of environments. HP has proven to be a “Best Value” vendor through this evaluation process.

The HP and USAF contract number is FA8771-05-A-0611.
