HP Integrity Server Solution Sales Pass $1 Billion in 2004

Latest innovations broaden choice and flexibility for customers such as CRI/Criterion, Deutsche Borse Systems AG, The Bank of New York and PREMIER Bankcard
PALO ALTO, Calif., Jan. 17, 2005

HP today announced that in its fiscal year 2004 the company surpassed $1 billion in sales of HP Integrity server-related solutions, marking a milestone in the growing popularity of the servers as a leading choice for business' most demanding IT workloads.

The solutions - including servers, software, HP StorageWorks systems and hardware services - span key industries such as financial services, manufacturing, network and service providers and the public sector.

The company also announced several HP Integrity server customers, including The Bank of New York, PREMIER Bankcard, Inc., and CRI/Criterion, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Royal Dutch/Shell Group of Companies.

In addition, HP released new enhancements to the entire Integrity server family with faster Intel® Itanium® 2 processors; new integrated virtualization capabilities across multiple operating systems; expanded high-availability and disaster recovery features for HP-UX 11i and Microsoft Windows® Server 2003; industry-first HP Pay per use for Windows; new production releases of the OpenVMS and Linux operating systems; and HP NonStop server evolution services. (More information on these topics is available in an online press kit at www.hp.com/go/integritywebevent.)

"The availability of OpenVMS on Integrity servers will enable us to introduce new infrastructure with the same operating system in a cost-efficient manner," said Gerd Koebschall, director, Head of Department VMS and XETRA/EUREX Operations, Deutsche Borse Systems AG. "We just ported the complete software of the Eurex Exchange, which currently consists of 5 million lines of source code, to OpenVMS on Integrity servers. In the test environment, this migration has already been a big success."

On Tuesday, Jan. 18, HP will highlight Integrity server customers and new product enhancements in a web event starting at 11:30 a.m. EST / 8:30 a.m. PST at www.hp.com/go/agility. HP Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Carly Fiorina will deliver the keynote address at the event, which also will include presentations by Ann Livermore, executive vice president, Technology Solutions Group, and Rich Marcello, senior vice president and general manager, Business Critical Servers. The web event will conclude with a live chat with Livermore and Marcello.

New customers and software support for HP Integrity solutions

"CRI/Criterion's business revolves around the ability to coordinate supplies and resources at customer sites around the globe, requiring that our HP solution be extremely mission-critical. To ensure the solution would meet our needs, we performed a comprehensive proof-of-concept at an HP Solution Center, reducing the time, complexity and risk of our deployment," said Petra G. Faisst, SAP basis manager, CRI/Criterion. "With our new HP, Intel, Microsoft and SAP solution in place, we have rock-solid system availability, a more efficient infrastructure for business growth and efficiency, and the ability to respond to customer needs better and faster."

"Integrity server solutions drive proven business results for a growing list of customers who are replacing IBM mainframes and legacy Sun systems," said Marcello. "With the technology innovations announced today, we continue to deliver on our commitment to vault Integrity servers to a leadership position in the $20 billion market served by RISC processors."(1)

Software support for HP Integrity servers now includes more than 3,000 applications spanning mission-critical infrastructure, enterprise resource planning, supply chain management, business intelligence and high-performance computing to deliver complete solution environments.

Microsoft Windows Server 2003 and SQL Server with HP Integrity server solutions have helped establish the Itanium architecture as the 64-bit platform for enterprise customers who require the highest levels of reliability and scalability. Windows Server 2003 is now the fastest growing operating system on Integrity servers and also represents 35 percent of the HP Integrity Superdome server installed base.

"Customers trust their mission-critical operations to Windows Server on HP Integrity servers," said Bob Muglia, senior vice president, Windows Server Division, Microsoft Corporation. "In collaboration with HP, Microsoft is committed to meeting customers' most demanding data center needs with continued improvements in reliability, scalability and performance."

Resellers become primary go-to-market driver

Growth in the number of HP Integrity server resellers continues at a rapid rate. Sales through the indirect channel continue to surpass goals and have now become the largest go-to-market channel for HP Integrity servers.

For example, Toshiba Solutions Corporation of Japan, a solutions provider for enterprise systems, recently announced it will resell HP Integrity servers in Japan as a way to accelerate growth for its solutions business. NEC, Hitachi, Mitsubishi and Oki Electronics also OEM HP Integrity servers for resale in Japan.
