HP to Open New Online Sales Center in Boise, Idaho

HPshopping.com, company's online consumer store, expected to add more than 200 jobs at sales center
PALO ALTO, Calif., Feb. 3, 2005

HP today announced that hpshopping.com, its online consumer shopping subsidiary, will open a new sales center in Boise, Idaho.

Expected to be operational this summer, the sales center will serve hpshopping.com's U.S. consumers and is expected to add more than 200 employees to HP's Idaho workforce of 3,700. The company's operations in Boise include customer and sales support as well as marketing positions. The site is also a major research and development hub for HP.

"Idaho is home to a number of prominent Fortune 500 companies, like HP, that contribute a great deal to our state's economic strength," said Idaho Governor Dirk Kempthorne. "Helping them grow and prosper is a central focus of our work to keep Idaho strong. Today's announcement by hpshopping.com is a new step in Idaho's 30-year relationship with HP that represents a terrific vote of confidence in our state and the business environment we offer."

The decision to expand hpshopping.com's operations and open a sales center location in Boise follows a strong 2004 holiday season and significant year-over-year growth.

"We are very encouraged by hpshopping.com's sales growth over the last several years," said Pete Appl, general manager, hpshopping.com. "HP is one of the largest employers in the state of Idaho, and hpshopping.com is looking forward to adding its presence to the Boise community."

HPshopping.com primarily will be filling telesales positions and seeking talented candidates who can build brand loyalty and increase sales of HP products. Recruitment for the Boise sales center is expected to begin immediately. Interested applicants are invited to visit http://www.jobs.hp.com.

HPshopping.com was recently ranked as one of the top business-to-consumer e-commerce sites for its excellence in online customer service in the 7th Annual e-tailing group Mystery Shopping Study. Of the 100 sites shopped throughout the fourth quarter of 2004, hpshopping.com was the only computer manufacturer/marketer to be ranked in the top 10 sites in customer service. HPshopping.com was similarly recognized in 2003.
