Preserve and Share Memories with HP's New Online Scrapbooking Community

Digital Cameras, PCs, Printers and Scanners Provide Unlimited Creative Expression in Scrapbooking
PALO ALTO, CALIF., JULY 2, 2003

HP (NYSE:HPQ) recently unveiled its scrapbooking community Web site at http://www.hp.com/go/scrapbooking, which enables users to incorporate everyday technology into their craft by using digital cameras, PCs, printers and scanners.

The site provides the scrapbooking community with an online resource that includes time-saving techniques, expert advice, project instructions, message boards and more. Twenty-three million people in the United States scrapbook and, according to the Hobby Industry Association, scrapbooking is the third most popular craft in the nation.

"Scrapbooks serve an important role in transforming our memories into treasured keepsakes," said Kathy Stromberg, vice president of marketing, Americas, HP Imaging and Printing Group. "The HP scrapbooking community Web site will inspire 'scrappers' of all levels to learn new techniques while tapping into a variety of fresh and exciting ideas and designs."

Step-by-step assistance in using a PC, camera, scanner, printer and color copier is provided at the site and serves to inspire creative expression in scrapbooking. By using this technology, scrappers can design and print their own layouts, images, titles, journaling, frames, mats and more.

For less experienced scrappers, the site provides innovative project ideas with ready-to-use and customizable templates. Scrappers will discover useful timesaving tips, expert advice, detailed "how-to" articles, project instructions and material lists. The site also provides useful tips on how to safely preserve memories in a scrapbook. New HP ink and HP Premium Plus Photo papers last longer than normal silver halide photos, thus extending the lifetime of captured memories.(1)

Consumers can connect with fellow scrappers and experts online by using the HP scrapbooking community message board and "send-to-a-friend" feature. Scrappers also can participate in online polls and keep track of upcoming events with a scrapbooking calendar that is updated monthly. This Web site is the first in a planned series of technology-based tools that HP is creating to assist the scrapbooking community with its craft.
