HP to Exhibit Innovative Solutions and Services at 3GSM World Congress

Broad Array of Offerings Enables Network and Service Providers to Adapt Quickly, Increase Revenues and Reduce Costs
CANNES, France, Feb. 14, 2003

Next week at the annual 3GSM World Congress, HP (NYSE:HPQ) will highlight a broad array of its solutions and integration services for the network and service provider market, including network infrastructure, operations and business support systems, advanced mobility solutions and rich-media technologies.

At the show, HP will deliver news about its mobile printing strategy. Concurrently, HP intends to announce a converged pre- and post-paid billing solution with an industry leader. HP is hosting a reception for all press on Tuesday, Feb. 18, at 5 p.m. Central Europe Time at the Palm Square Restaurant near the Palais des Festivals.

HP customers, which include more than 200 of the world's largest network and service providers, are leveraging HP offerings to manage their resources more efficiently, create new revenue-generating services and adapt more quickly to customer needs.

"If you look at the industry landscape, HP today stands out as a one-of-a-kind leader," said Sebastiano Tevarotto, vice president and general manager, HP Network and Service Provider Business Unit. "HP is the only major company that combines deep IT (information technology) experience and a rich heritage in telecommunications. This dual expertise is enormously valuable to our customers, as they leverage their existing voice-based investments to produce new revenue from data services and build the bridge to IP (Internet protocol).

"HP also brings well-known presence and insight in two markets that are vital to mobile operators and equipment providers: the enterprise and the consumer markets."

HP Adds Value in Three Key Areas of Mobility

The "mobile experience," that is, the availability of voice, data and multimedia services, anywhere, anytime, is the end result of a complex mix of technologies that can be grouped into three major segments: access, network and content. HP, unique in the industry, is making significant contributions in all three areas.

In access, HP provides its consumer expertise and a wide variety of wireless end-user devices and software, including its notebook PCs and the HP iPAQ Pocket PC. At the show, HP is announcing that it is working with Telecom Italia Mobile, Italy's leading mobile operator, to enable Internet access over GSM/GPRS mobile networks using the new HP Extended Instant Mobility Suite of software and a Bluetooth enabled iPAQ Pocket PC. HP also will announce European availability of the HP iPAQ Pocket PC h5450, which includes Bluetooth and wireless LAN links.

In the network segment, HP brings 25 years of experience in network infrastructure, operations and business support systems and mobile services. The HP OpenView and HP Opencall technologies are widely deployed in networks worldwide. Leading up to the 3GSM World Congress, HP announced: the HP Mobile Service Delivery Platform (MSDP); HP OpenView Service Quality Manager; integration of HP Opencall solutions and Transat Technologies products to help operators link hotspots into cellular networks; and Vodafone Greece's deployment of an HP storage area network to support billing for mobile services.

In the content area, HP leverages its extensive presence in the enterprise to help service providers attract high-value business customers who need fast access to corporate data such as e-mail, productivity applications, intranets and the Internet itself. For all customers, HP brings its relationships with rich-media content providers, as well as many HP solutions for digital content management and delivery.

With expertise in all three segments, HP can minimize complexity and cost for service providers and enhance the subscriber's mobile experience.

During the show, HP and its partners will demonstrate a wide array of solutions at the HP booth A10 in Hall 1 of the Palais des Festivals and at the nearby HP Club. These demonstrations include HP OpenView, HP Opencall as well as numerous other solutions:
