HP Thin Clients Deliver Elegant Designs and PC-like Performance for Cloud Computing

Palo Alto, CA., August 28, 2017 – HP today announced its next-generation thin clients deliver excellent PC-like performance and the security demanded for the new world of cloud computing – in beautiful new designs. The HP t530 Thin Client and the HP mt21 Mobile Thin Client are the ideal platforms for a range of markets, delivering the right amount of compute processing and seamless graphics capabilities to enable rich cloud computing experiences. HP’s new products will be showcased at VMworld - VMware’s premier thought leadership and education conference.

The next-generation thin client – HP t530

The HP t530 Thin Client has a new elegant and modern design; it is the first HP thin client designed for the office of the future. It was engineered to provide several market segments with an optimized thin client platform capable of delivering performance and customized configurations including specific technologies and capabilities needed for key use cases such as call-centers, PC-replacement and cloud computing applications. Users with different needs can get models configured just for them with several optional I/O ports, including a serial port or a VGA port, as well as memory and storage options. The HP t530 was designed to work with the latest virtualized and cloud computing workloads to handle higher loads of local processing and graphics rendering tasks.

The HP t530 was designed around an AMD GX-215JJ dual-core 1.5 – 2.0 GHz SoC1 with Radeon™ R2E graphics and a fully solid-state fan-less design. Users have a choice of USB ports, including USB-C™, serial2 and VGA ports2, plus two DisplayPort™ outputs. Connectivity is delivered with an embedded GbE3 network adapter and optional Wi-Fi adapter2 with Bluetooth®. When configured with Wi-Fi, the unit includes an internal antenna or can be configured with a new external antenna system for use cases such as hospital carts or kiosks where connectivity is a challenge. The HP t530 includes solid-state flash memory storage options up to 512 GB, and SDRAM system memory up to 16 GB4. Customers can choose between a Windows® operating system5 or HP’s Linux®-based ThinPro with Smart Zero Core. These reliable embedded operating systems enable connecting to applications using VMware®, Citrix®, and Microsoft®, or let users go straight to the Cloud with the included browsers.          

HP mt21 - the feature rich, value-minded mobile thin client

The HP mt21 Mobile Thin Client is designed for both enterprise server-based computing and access to web and browser-based applications. The mt21 has a stylish design featuring an ultra-slim silver color exterior with a robust aluminum keyboard deck, and the durability and sturdiness to pass MIL-STD testing6. An intensly rich and immersive user experience is delivered through a 14-inch diagonal FHD or HD anti-glare slim LED-backlit display7 that supports up to 1366 x 768 resolution8. The display incorporates HP Audio Boost,  noise cancellation software and a high-definition 720p webcam9 for optimal mobile collaboration. Users can quickly transition to desktop productivity with a single cable that supports docking via USB-C™. The mt21 can be configured with an optional finger print reader for use with  Windows 10 IoT2.

Operating systems available include HP’s ThinPro / Smart Zero Core or Microsoft’s Windows 10 IoT Enterprise5. The HP mt21 uses the Intel® Celeron® 3865U processor (1.8 GHz dual-core)10 with Intel® HD graphics7 and Intel® Dual Band Wireless-AC 8265 Wi-Fi + BT 4.2 adapter11. The mt21 is powered by a 3-cell, 48 WHr Li-ion battery for up to 15 hours of battery life1213.

Pricing and Availability

The HP t530 Thin Client is available today and has a U.S. starting price of $389. The HP mt21 Mobile Thin Client is scheduled for available starting in September and has an estimated U.S. starting prices of $449.
