HP Rolls Out Global Business-to-business Web Site with Advanced Features for Commercial Customers

PALO ALTO, Calif., Oct. 9, 2002

HP (NYSE: HPQ) today initiated the global rollout of its newly integrated and customized Web site for commercial customers, HP.com Business to Business. By combining the strengths of the pre-merger Compaq and HP B2B Web sites, the new HP provides an efficient, industry-leading eBusiness resource with all the tools customers need from one quick, easy-to-access site.

The start of this deployment in the United States is a key component of HP's eBusiness strategy following its merger with Compaq: supporting the entire eBusiness customer life cycle from evaluation to purchasing to support.

"HP.com Business to Business allows customers to efficiently manage their eBusiness relationship with HP," said Marius Haas, worldwide vice president of eBusiness at HP. "This Web tool enables customers to collaborate with their HP account teams and partners online in order to streamline and control their e-commerce activity through services such as global order tracking, reporting and support. The collective experience of the two companies in providing B2B solutions brings added capabilities and value to our customers as an integrated company."

HP.com Business to Business provides commercial customers with advanced features, such as:

  • Enhanced order status capabilities, including the ability to track all purchases from both pre-merger companies whether placed online, by phone or fax;
  • Order history and reporting capabilities that allow customers to manage their purchasing activity with HP, with the ability to choose from pre-defined reports or create ad hoc reports to suit their needs;
  • A single integrated product catalog to purchase both HP and Compaq products through one site; and
  • Collaboration tools to communicate and work with their HP account team online.
"In previewing HP.com Business to Business, I was impressed with the new functionality being offered by HP," said Marty Gruhn, vice president and practice director, E-Business Strategies and Best Practices at Summit Strategies. "This new tool will help customers efficiently manage their relationship with HP from end-to-end."

The rollout of HP.com Business to Business begins in the United States and continues with deployment in Europe, Middle East and Africa in early 2003, followed by Asia-Pacific soon thereafter, providing a complete global site for HP's business customers.
