HP Boosts High-performance Networking Switch Series for Enterprises

New Procurve Modules for 9300 Routing Switches Offer Industry-leading Port Density, Advanced Traffic Accounting and 10-Gigabit Ethernet Performance

HP (NYSE: HPQ) today introduced seven high-performance networking modules for the HP Procurve Routing Switch 9300m series that provide industry-leading Gigabit port density, wire-speed network traffic accounting and 10-Gigabit Ethernet bandwidth for enterprise networks worldwide.

Equipped with these modules, the HP Procurve Routing Switch 9300m series helps enterprise customers resolve their performance, security, network traffic management and capacity needs. Together, the switch series offers a high-performance yet affordable solution for the ever-increasing bandwidth and port density needs of enterprise customers and the ability to improve their business' revenue generation with improved network traffic accounting.

HP's new Enhanced Performance (EP) technology-based modules provide the highest Gigabit port densities available in both fiber and copper deployments and the support of jumbo frames on Gigabit and 10-Gigabit ports for high-performance remote backup and disaster recovery services.

The new EP-based modules also provide sFlow traffic accounting technology. Based on HP's Extended RMON sampling technology, sFlow traffic accounting is built into the new EP ASIC hardware, enabling on-demand wire-speed network traffic management, capacity planning, QoS (quality of service) analysis and security analysis.

The HP Procurve Routing Switch 9300m series also allows separate, secure, private and public domains within the same infrastructure. This ensures control at the core as well as the ability to manage bandwidth allocations on each domain and to track usage to individuals.

HP's new 10-Gigabit Ethernet solution for the Procurve Routing Switch 9300m series continues to increase bandwidth and capacity requirements for enterprise backbone solutions.

The increase in per-port bandwidth and backbone throughput provided by HP's 10-Gigabit Ethernet solution can be efficiently used to consolidate links in the data center. In addition, up to four 10-Gigabit links can be trunked, increasing fault tolerance while providing the ability to create up to a 40-Gigabit pipe between several 9300m switches' chassis with a single deployment.

HP's new T-Flow Redundant Management module for the Procurve Routing Switch 9300m series includes all of the benefits of sFlow found in the new EP-based technology, while also providing interoperability with NetFlow-based traffic accounting systems and additional on-board processing power. Providing a robust traffic management solution compatible with both sFlow and NetFlow accounting technologies makes the HP Procurve Routing Switch 9300m series an attractive choice for today's heterogeneous enterprise network environments, where robust traffic monitoring and accounting are a paramount concern.
