HPshopping.com Receives Primedia Catalog Age I.Merch@nt Silver Award

Online Consumer Store Recognized as Outstanding Retail Site

PALO ALTO, Calif., June 27, 2002

HP's (NYSE:HPQ) online consumer store, HPshopping.com, has been recognized as an outstanding retail Web site by Primedia's Catalog Age magazine. HPshopping.com, which features a full selection of HP home and home office products, was among 69 finalists in the record-breaking pool of 300 entrants to both the annual Catalog awards and the I.Merchant awards.

After examining hpshopping.com's quality, design, navigational ease, customer service, sales and merchandising, a panel of expert judges awarded the site an I.Merch@nt Silver Award in the consumer hard goods category.

The annual Catalog awards are the industry's premier awards program honoring outstanding U.S. and international print catalogs. The I.Merch@nt awards recognize the most exceptional e-commerce Web sites. The final awards were distributed on June 12 at the Annual Catalog Conference in Chicago.

"We are extremely honored to have received the I.Merch@nt Silver Award," said Susan Boyce, chief marketing officer, hpshopping.com. "It's a wonderful acknowledgement of hpshopping.com's excellent customer shopping experience and industry-renowned customer service -- from product selection to delivery."

Over the past year, hpshopping.com has made numerous improvements to better the site's customer experience. As a result of extensive usability testing, several features have been added and improved, including a notebook PC configure-to-order tool, enhanced search and product comparison capabilities, a persistent shopping cart that appears on each page the customer visits and a personalized "My Printing Supplies Store."

With the "My Printing Supplies Store," hpshopping.com goes beyond simply selling a product by helping consumers keep track of their printer supplies from ink cartridges and paper to specialty supplies. Customers who use HP printers can store the names of up to 15 printers on the Web site (http://www.hpshopping.com/myprintsupplies) and receive information about compatible supplies for their printers and special deals on each return visit to the site.

"By showing our customers exactly which supplies were intended for their printer, hpshopping.com helps take the 'guess work' out of buying supplies," said Boyce. "It's one of many ways that hpshopping.com strives to make shopping an smooth, enjoyable experience."

HPshopping.com also instituted a safe-shopping guarantee for credit card purchases and improved e-finance offerings. In addition, it implemented Web chat capabilities and reduced the time it takes to check out. These improvements have made it easier than ever for consumers to find what they need quickly and safely.
