HP Unveils First Offerings from New Evo Line, Providing Businesses Simple IT Deployment and Management


HP (NYSE: HPQ) today continued its drive to simplify the purchase, deployment and management of business computers with fresh offerings from the company's new Compaq Evo product line.

Designed for demanding business and networked settings, Evo desktop and notebook PCs provide industry-leading innovation and flexibility that enable customers to develop their enterprise computing environments at their own pace.

The Evo line of products, first introduced one year ago, has been widely recognized by press and analysts with 37 industry awards, including Comdex -- Best of Show and CES -- Best of Show honors.

Dependable Desktop Solutions to Simplify Business Computing

HP has introduced three new models to the Compaq Evo Desktop PC lineup: the Evo D510 Desktop, D510 Ultra-slim Desktop and the D310 Desktop -- all based on the new Intel® 845G chipset with Intel Extreme Graphics. This integrated graphics solution offers the performance equivalent to a mainstream 32 MB graphics card, with four to five times improvement over previous integrated graphics products.

The Evo D500 series is designed to provide large businesses and global enterprises with maximum stability and manageability with 12-month lifecycles and additional PC management tools to help customers simplify their IT management and lower ownership costs. The series now offers performance-enhancing features such as DDR memory and USB 2.0, which offers 40 times the bandwidth of the original USB 1.1 specification.

The new Evo D510 Desktop PCs feature optional MultiBay, a flexible storage technology that allows users to easily change external drives. Available with 24x CD-ROM, 8x DVD-RR, 20 GB hard drive or 8x CD-RW, MultiBay enables users to share drives across other Evo D510 Desktop PCs and select Evo notebooks, eliminating the costly need to equip every system with every removable storage option.

The Evo D510 Desktop PC models are expected to be available in early June direct from HP with the Celeron® 845G processor starting at an estimated U.S. street price of $769 or with an Intel Pentium® 4 845G processor for $899.(1)

Additionally, the Evo D510 Ultra-slim Desktop PC will also feature the Intel Pentium 4 processor 845G chipset priced at $809.(1) Seventy-five percent smaller than previous generation desktop PCs and equipped with MultiPort wireless and MultiBay technology, the new, ergonomic Ultra-slim Desktop PC model is even quieter than the original Celeron version, with acoustics dropping to 19 decibels from 28 decibels.

The Evo D300 Desktop PC series offers businesses of all sizes reliable desktop PCs with the latest technologies at low purchase prices. Available immediately, the new Evo D310 Desktop PC also is equipped with the Intel 845G chipset featuring Intel Extreme Graphics, DDR memory and USB 2.0, starting at an estimated U.S. street price of $749.(1)

Evo Notebook N800 Series -- Performance and Mobility

The Evo Notebook N800 series was designed with reliability, stability and commonality in mind. Now available in a corporate/enterprise or SMB version starting at $1,709,(1) the Evo N800 series includes some of the most advanced portable product features on the market.

The slim 1.3-inch notebook features the power of the new mobile Intel Pentium 4 processor - M and other performance-enhancing features such as ATI Mobility Radeon 7500 graphics controller, DDR memory and USB 2.0.

These features are wrapped in a stylish, carbon design with silver accents that includes a 15-inch TFT display while weighing less than 5.6 pounds. In addition, the Evo N800 offers the innovative MultiPort design that enables integrated wireless in a modular way providing superior performance and flexibility for Bluetooth and 802.11b wireless LAN technologies.

To simplify the deployment and management of the Evo N800, a new line of docking solutions is now available. Smaller than traditional docking stations, the Port Replicator and Advanced Port Replicator support network interface card pass through, allow for external monitor usage and support two additional MultiBays in the advanced port replicator. The docking solutions as well as a new high-speed USB (2.0) MultiBay cradle also are designed for compatibility with future HP notebooks.
