HP Announces Two New Wireless Services for iPAQ Pocket PC Users

HP Introduces Wireless Document Management and Email Through Key Relationships with Infowave and GoAmerica

HP (NYSE: HPQ) today announced a new family of wireless products and services, called iPAQ Pocket PC Mobility Services, which are aimed at helping mobile professionals become more productive while on the go.

Key relationships with Infowave and GoAmerica bring secure document, email, fax and calendar management capabilities to wirelessly enabled iPAQ Pocket PC users in conjunction with iPAQnet Mobile Internet, powered by GoAmerica's Go.Web service, or other wireless Internet offerings.

In addition, HP announced a new AvantGo channel for HP news and information formatted specifically for the iPAQ Pocket PC. The company also highlighted two new expansion packs for the iPAQ available from LifeView and Unity Digital.

"Today's mobile workers are constantly looking for new ways to increase their productivity and flexibility for on-the-go computing and communicating," said Sean Burke, vice president, HP Smart Handhelds. "The addition of these services allows our customers to have untethered access to their data when they are away from the office, continuing our wireless mobility strategy of providing the best services through the best partners."

iPAQ Pocket PC Mobility Services

Infowave Symmetry Pro is a software service that allows wireless iPAQ Pocket PC customers to securely manage their corporate Exchange email, attachments and calendar in real time. Security is assured from the desktop to the iPAQ Pocket PC with 256-bit AES (Advanced Encryption Standard) encryption technology. Installation is easy, with no need for IT assistance or client/server architecture.

Full integration with Microsoft® Outlook means sent email messages appear to originate from a user's desktop PC and meeting requests managed wirelessly are automatically synchronized with Outlook. Messages also can be filtered and truncated for faster downloads. The cost of Infowave Symmetry Pro service is $19.95 a month.

GoAmerica Mobile Office Document Manager allows wireless iPAQ Pocket PC customers to securely upload frequently used documents from their desktop PCs to their Document Manager Libraries; to access their library wirelessly from the iPAQ Pocket PC; and to share files with customers and employees -- all while away from the office.

In addition, users can customize a pre-made document template to their needs or use the AutoLetter tool to compose an original business letter and instantly send it by fax or email. Customers also can send and receive faxes wirelessly from their iPAQ.

Document Manager Premium Edition for HP customers includes 250 MB of storage space, as well as fax in and fax out capabilities, at a cost of $29.95 a month. Document Manager Basic Edition comes with 50 MB of storage space and fax out capabilities at a cost of $9.95 a month.

GoAmerica Mobile Office Document Manager and Infowave Symmetry Pro are available for 14-day free trial periods to HP customers. More information about all the new iPAQ Pocket PC Mobility Services is available at http://www.compaq.com/ipaqnet.

New Options for the iPAQ Pocket PC

The FlyJacket i3800 from LifeView can transmit images from the iPAQ Pocket PC to a projector, video graphics array (VGA) monitor or TV, while maintaining an available CompactFlash slot for storing data and files. Additionally, the bundled pen-sized remote control/pointer is specifically designed to perform the task of "page up" and "page down" for Microsoft PowerPoint file presentations in conjunction with the FlyJacket i3800. The FlyJacket i3800 sells for $199.

Unity Digital's ProPower Pack battery enhancement upgrade for the iPAQ Pocket PC gives customers long-lasting battery power to capture more images, complete more tasks and enjoy more music than ever before. The ProPower Pack features a rechargeable nickel metal hydride (NiMH) battery that offers 2,700 milliamp hours power usage with no memory effect, so users can recharge anytime without shortening battery life. A protective leather case with belt clip is included at no cost. This new option is available for $99.
