Laying the Foundation for Seamless Integration

True mobility

The key to true business mobility isn’t hardware, or software, or management, or infrastructure or security. It’s all of these things, working together to deliver a seamlessly integrated experience that lets employees focus on their work instead of figuring out how to do their work.

Here at HP, we recognize that there’s no such thing as one-size-fits-all seamless integration. The clinician making the rounds, the mobile executive updating a strategy presentation from the airport, the technician working from the field, the retail operations manager, each has distinct workflows and unique needs that must be considered.

It’s this understanding that drove us to develop mobility solutions tailored to specific industries and use cases.

But how does our portfolio support seamless integration? Let’s take a quick look at our healthcare, retail and rugged solutions.

Designed specifically for clinicians, nurses and other medical practitioners, the HP ElitePad Healthcare Tablet offers several features to streamline care delivery, including:

  • Antimicrobial Coating – The Healthcare tablet’s antimicrobial coating1 keeps it protected throughout the day, and is dust and water resistant to IP54 standards2. It’s also easily cleaned with sanitizing solutions3, so it can be ready to use in a variety of clinical settings.
  • Barcode Scanner – The included barcode scanner eliminates the need to carry a second device, streamlines workflows, and helps ensure quality and accuracy of care.
  • Voice Recognition – Audio capture capabilities with built-in noise cancellation support industry-leading voice recognition software, which allows practitioners to easily capture notes and care instructions.

Optimized for retail operations, the HP ElitePad Mobile Retail Solution gives salespeople the tools they need to assist customers and complete transactions from the sales floor, rather than being stuck behind a counter.

  • Barcode Scanner – The barcode scanner makes it easy to pull up product information or ring up purchases. Depending on integration with store systems, the scanner could also be used to support inventory management.
  • On-Device Payments – The ElitePad Mobile Retail Solution includes a built-in card reader and PIN entry device (PED), making it easy for salespeople to process transactions from the sales floor. In addition to traditional magnetic stripe payments, EMV “chip and PIN” and NFC payments are also supported, ensuring compliance with impending credit card processor mandates.
  • Fixed Point-of-Sale Option – The Mobile Retail Solution can also quickly become a fixed point-of-sale terminal with the HP Retail Expansion Dock for ElitePad.

In the field, on the construction site or factory floor, it’s critical to have a device that can keep up. Our ElitePad Rugged Tablet is engineered to do exactly that.

  • Pen Compatibility – For easier use while wearing work gloves, or to make quick notes on everything from work orders to building plans, the ElitePad Rugged Tablet can be paired with a tablet pen2.
  • Docking Station – Easily transition between a tough on-the-go tablet and a desktop-like experience with the optional docking station and save the hassle of moving between machines.
  • Second Battery – The ElitePad Rugged Tablet includes a second battery for up to 20 hours of battery life4, because seamless integration is meaningless if your tablet runs out of juice halfway through the day.

The above are just a few of the ways that HP mobility solutions help lay a foundation for seamless integration between technology and tasks. In addition to device and industry-specific capabilities, our ElitePad lineup shares a number of common integration-friendly features, including Microsoft Windows 8.1 Pro, which provides simplified integration with company systems and streamlined app development, to HP Touchpoint Manager device and security management, and a full suite of HP software and services which help your IT staff deploy, manage and maintain mobile device fleets.
